New Apple Products Annoucements
I didn't even know there were Tiers. I guess it makes sense but I don't know how Apple takes their cut from 3rd party developers on or outside of the app store (most of the software I buy is sold on the developer's sites and are licensed and sold by whatever is the wackiest and painful methods they can dredge up!). Maybe the App Store is too damned civilized for me to understand!

The app's are why I've never considered the Surface. Just about all pro audio apps can be used on Apple devices but not the other way around (Logic being the most obvious). Maybe there's a cap on the price on some types software (never heard this), but it doesn't seem to apply to audio. Just off the top of my head, Steinberg's iPad DAW, Cubasis and Neyrinck's V-Control Pro (which may be the single most used pro audio ipad app) are both $49.

Backup software for PC
Plenty of free 'cloning' software (I've never found significant differences between the ones I've used). If you need to go out and buy an external drive just for this purpose, if his laptop has USB3, try and find a portable drive that supports that. Way quicker and whatever makes backing up less painful makes routine backups more likely.

RIP someone or another
RIP Moses. He dominated the basketball record books forever. I'm embarrassed to say that Mr. Becker's contribution to film was unknown to me. The two sided mask of janus was always the film equivalent to a fine leather bound volume. Whenever I saw it, I could be sure that my life would be enriched. RIP William

New Apple Products Annoucements
Using the iPad as a remote for my workstation is about 1/4 of what I use it for. Luckily, there a lots of great pro audio apps that have been adapted to iOs. Here's a synth that I fool with on my iPad. Because of all the controls, it was split up into 4 views (there's also a virtual keyboard). Having to switch views can take a toll on creativity.

ipad pro get's my vote! The limited real estate of the previous versions made doing real work super clunky. You needed more than one or you have to switch views to access more controls (buttons, interfaces, sliders etc). I'm not sure if they'll sell very many, but it seems like all their products with the "pro" title are a nod to the professional market.

Show Me a Hero
I've thought a lot about this show since I finished. Maybe it's because I was involved in various protest movements in the 70's or having lived in upper state NY and known guys who were pushing their way into local politics there (always wondered whey smart folks would do that to themselves). Is it me, or were things much more black and white back then? I tend to think it's part of getting older and realizing that the guys I thought were genuine "bad guys" (like the character played by Alfred Molina) are just displaying the wrong flaws and are on the other side of the debate from me. Or maybe it was the way middle class guys were raised to think that they are all destined for some sort of greatness, to somehow stand above the crowd and be recognized for their achievements. Or is it simply that we were innocent enough to believe that life was fair and having a "good heart" is enough to carry you. Sorry for the dribble but I love it when a show makes me stop and think a little.

McLorin Salvant is an amazing talent! Saw her last year and she left everyone's jaws on the floor. It seemed like there was nothing beyond her skills and the range of her voice.

Major Forum Software Upgrade - August 5, 2015
Shelly, that's usually a problem with your browser,.. bookmarks to be exact. Delete your Headcase bookmarks and do a search for the forum (just like it's your first time here). 9 chances out of 10, you'll be logged in. If not, log in and make a new bookmark. Should work?

Capitol Audio Fest August 28-30
Keep an eye out for Elac speakers. Don't see em on the list but they were the highlight of the Cal Audio show a few weeks ago. Sub $300 a pair never sounded so good IMHO.

And now what did you do TODAY?
It's more about what you do with the device when you access the patient. You put a phone in your lab coat pocket, with a bigger device, you put it on the bed, the bedside table,.. then off to the next room where you put it on the bed, the bedside table,..

You really are a tennis fan Doug! (I don't imagine US Open tickets are cheap) More power to you. I used to love going to matches. TV just doesn't do the sport justice IMHO.
