  1. x2 on Mark's little beauty - much good stuff here, and impressions will follow (later, much later ...) Highlights so far are tyrion's tt to the Lux P-1, Mark's proto tube amp from Exlempar'd Denon 2900 (even made K701s come alive), Gary's always amazing Aristaeus to HE90 from the Sony SCD-1, etc, etc ... Here are some more in progress pix ... eat your hearts out.
  2. For the sake of continuity, yesterday's meet impressions from the planning thread are linked here ... Lunch http://www.head-case.org/forums/212655-post58.html DOTU missing us http://www.head-case.org/forums/212748-post66.html Dinner http://www.head-case.org/forums/212763-post70.html Now, on to today ... Well, I guess these first two are still last night, in the wee hours And here are the real today ones starting the meet ...
  3. So, I guess this will also be the impressions post, since The Younger hasn't stepped up to start one. Accordingly, here are some shots from beers and supper at Brother Tuckers, fdollowed by beers at Briney's Irish just dowm he street (yes, Ken & Stacey, the place we walked by on the way to the beach at CJ'08).
  4. Got to Mike's at 11:30. Together with Mike and John, decided we should have a toast wit some of Al's (Voltron) Willet Family Rye ... why not? After Al's lovely dram, decided that a Pliner the Elder would hit the spot. Then it was off to the pub for some Pappy Van Winkle Followed by dark and tan to chase Mike and John are happy

I'm in for the southbound leg, but will then fly home to FL from LAX on Monday. MOAR should be a nice little segue into CJ'09 - looking forward to some quality time with my NorCal buds.
  6. Nice review, Chris. I was looking forward to your impressions, because I am predispoded to like SPL gear. I have the SPL Volume2 balanced volume control, and it is a fantastic piece. Basically a single source balanced preamp. What is the msrp of the Phonitor?
  7. Congrats, Al! That is one gorgeous setup, and you've got to feel proud and happy for successfully mounting and adjusting the cart yourself. Photos are great - nothing like aluminum, wood, moving belts, and spinning vinyl to get our attention.
  8. Nate ... short and sweet (about 6" end to end) should do it. Longer is ok, but prefer short and tidy. Here is pinout (which you likely already have): Apple iPod and iPhone dock interfaces pinout and signals @ pinouts.ru Here is info on why the 2G Touch doesn't send audio to line outs (goes to internal speaker instead) when old LOD cable used: Using the iPod Touch 2G with the AUX input You likely already knew that as well, but thought worth posting.
  9. Recently picked up a Touch (2nd Gen), and am digging how cool it is. I do need some help/advice for a LOD cable, however. Anyone know a source for a reasonably priced (ie: not the unobtanium stuff that ALO makes) LOD cable that works with the 2G Touch? In the meantime I am just using the headphone out at 50 - 70% volume to feed an amp, and am impressed by the quality, even with 256k vbr AAC or 320k MP3s. For serious listening, I'd prefer to use ALAC source files to a true line out, so pass on those suggestions. tia ...
  10. Terrific build on a gorgeous amp, Nate. Beautiful layout, meticulous attention to detail, and very nice touches with the power button, etc. The very best, though is all the fun our people have had with our east coast marks. Will be sweet seeing the looks on their faces when you send me the amp. Fun with Vicki and Mike, eh? This one was easy ... what shall we do for the next con? Perhaps something with DOTU and jp#s? Whatever it is, it should involve buckets of money coming our way ... times are tough, and gear isn't cheap. My people thank your people for a job well done.
  11. Happy Birthday, jp! Sorry to be late to the party, but hope you had a great day.
