A bit OOT, my experience with all those DAC I've listened to, I came to conclusion that lately in general European Audio house usually prefer a more warmish/musical approach (I've auditioned this and Ayon) whilst Asian (tried Calyx Femto, Eximus DP-1) and US (Meitner, AR8) prefer a more clinical, neutrality approach....... Maybe a flawed conclusion but I'd like to throw this to all of you for discussion sake........

true but that would mean shelling out another $100-ish for W7. I'd rather wait for them to come up with W8 driver........im happy so far running it from coax on usb/spdif converter

sorry for ressurecting this thead. Just snagged this baby. Going back between this and Meitner MA-1 (which is around 1.5k more). After some pretty much extensive hearing, climbing 5 lvel of stairs (the ECD show room is 5 floors below the Meitner) and pissing off the meitner salesman (because I didnt buy frm them), here's my humble observation: 1. Technicality, Meitner is better. Vertical soundstage is top notch. The EMM Labs DAC 2x is even better. Separation as well where the Meitner is tad better, and detail. This all sum up to one word : CLINICAL. Bass is what it is, High if its piercing it will cut your ear. True to the recording. 2. Musicality, this ECD beat it hands down. A bit of hump in the mid area but not enough to be annoying. The rest are perfect especially if you're listening to instrumental music. The mid also can be shouty but not to the degree of fatiguing. Toe tapping music everytime I put a new track. One caveat, I auditioned both this DAC on speaker setup AND on different setup. There's a lot that can be differ there if it comes to headphone. One weakness so far for the ECD, the USB section only support up to windows 7. My laptop is on windows 8. Hopefully the release the driver soon. And I should've hunted for the ECD-1 instead.......could've save me lots of money but this brand is quite a rarity down here

Folks, friend of mine is looking to upgrade his rig. He's toying with the idea of Cavalli amp. I tried to talk him out from it since it looks to me that this folks is way to greedy in charging his work lately. $6500 for an SS balanced amp with whatever mumbo jumbo parts inside is simply too much IMHO. So now he's torn between Eddie Current or Headamp or Cavalli. Everyone knows Justin work, but I'm just curious about the repo of EC and Cavalli in your eyes. Which one you'd prefer to have?

looks like I'll try K3ct legato first and decide......1k to throw at usb/spdif converter (audiophilleo and battery pack) sounds a bit far fetched for me......

my tablet is just an acer w510, its atom processor tablet running w8. i plan to use it solely as transport only with occasional browsing on it. mind me, but isnt vlinks in around the same league as trends audio converter ? thanks

Folks, sorry for resurrecting old thread. I recently sold my Bladelius Embla transport after some friend gave me an offer I couldnt resist. It's kind of revelation to me since I hate Embla user GUI vs computer player like foobar. Anyway, now I'm using Acer tablet (fanless) with SSD dock to Trends Audio UD10.1 with DIY battery pack connected to Neko and to BHSE. I have left out computer system since I have my Embla for almost 2 years. I'm looking at a better USB-SPDIF converter than the Trends Audio , been looking at Audiophilleo 2 (w/battery pack) or ART Legato. K3ct have Legato which I plan to try soon, but havent try any Audiophilleo. So folks, any advise or maybe just stick with my current converter? Im a bit skeptic when comes to the usefulness of this gizmo outside from converting digital usb to digital audio, but I'm not expert.....Thanks in advance.....

nothing in the pipeline dinny......unfortunately. Just for the sake of saying it, I'd be thrilled if he could come up with a portable dac, something to the extend of ALO stuff.....I'd be among the first to jump on it.

I've been using 5,600m/ah and 7800 m/ah. no problems so far. provide enogh juice for my lg 4xhd and blackberry z10. thing that we need to be aware (outside of exploding battery) is that lots of manufacturer over claim the capacity of the battery inside. So if a manufacturer said its 5,600m/ah unless its a big names (energizer, etc) then take it with a grain of salt.....

gosh.....can i buy another one and have it drive another channel.....so 2 dac for each left and right...... dang, just gimme a goddam reason to get another one......portable perhaps? or can i use it for car audio ? or can i hook it to my home theater ? oh wait, I dont have a home theater.......

Folks, I remember starting this thread on the old layout. I didnt see that again. I just wanted to share my experiences on handling Kenny G for the company I work for. He is doing a gigs in our corporate event and I'm the event coordinator. Have to admit he is one of the easiest celebrity to take care. No stupid request for his riders. A very nice guy, easily approachable and very down to earth. When he finished his performance, some of our premium clients wanted to take a picture with him and he graciously agreed "whatever you want....." is his comments when I ask for his permission. I'm his fan to a certain extent though not biggest fan. Despite his music which is highly critized (elevator music, porn music, etc), he is a total gentlemen and should be the role model for every celebrity. Hats off to him !!! Barbara Streisand and J.Lo from what I hear is another story though.......perhaps some chaps here can share their experience handling celebrity or meeting celebrity.......

Trying to catch fall colours but alas, not yet.....gotta go to higher elevation. entered the drawings for subway but didnt get it and here's the kicker: it limit up to 20 group / day. Me and one other friend entered the draw and up to 30 mins before it closes, there's 20 participants. And yet we didn't get it!!! Could it be that the last 30 mins there's at least 5 more entries ? Very unlikely or very unfortunate. Thats all I can say. Went to Narrows instead which IMO a mini Subway. I think you can pretty much find 24-105L at relatively bargain price since lots of people bought 5dmk2 bundled with it. And some if not most of those people are upgrading and they are looking to unload the lens and make some money to recoup some of the purchase of the camera body
