Yep, I wrote them off after hearing them in a few meet settings. I thought they were just OK, but not worth the $. Just one day of listening in my home changed that.
Miguel I'd be happy to build you a sleeve. I think Bloodwood would be gorgeous. I'll need a good pic of the Marantz sleeve if you want a close copy, but it should be an easy project. And winter is on the horizon, and that's when I gear up my shop work. Too hot in the summer.
Just hooked up the Adcom GDA 700 DAC I bought. Listening now and pleasantly surprised at how good it sounds. This will surely hold me through until the BuffaloII is done. How did I collect this much gear again?
Also Bituthane sheeting has very similar qualities. You have to buy a large roll, but it's usually cheaper than a tiny amount of Dynamat. It's sold as Ice and Water shield for roofing. The brand I'm familiar with is Grace.
