    They're here

That's because they're dipped is mysterious conditioning liquids, right? I seem to remember some reference to such treatments somewhere.
  2. This is not something that it is uncommon and it probably isn't fraud (in the legal sense). The likely scenario is that there is someone with your name, or a very similar name, that owes some company money. The debt collector is probably targetting everyone with your name. This happens most frequently with people who have names that are neither too unusual or too common. Disputing the debt in writing, as you have done, is the way to go. You can certainly call them, but I would be prepared to fax a copy of your dispute to them when you call. Also, I wouldn't bring up the fact that you already filed a complaint. The debt collectors motiviation is to get money and once they figure out they're not going to get any from you, they will probably leave you alone. When you speak to them, I would probably just tell them you don't know the company whose debt that are trying to collect and you are not the guy with the debt. Keep calm. Whoever you speak to may get pushy. But your best bet is remain to calm and repeat: I'm not the guy, never heard of this company. And request a written response acknowledging what you told them.
  3. Do the new ipods have a line out? Also, I'd ideally like a player that supports a lossless format, but this isn't required.
  4. I'm really out of touch with these. My Nomad 3 is about to die. I'm looking for something with a line out, good audio quality, and decent battery life (but it doesn't have to be great). I don't care about video content at all. A nice navigation system would be a plus. What are my options?
  5. HAHAHAHAHA!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111 I was going to report that to the moderator, but it wouldn't do any good.

    They're here

There is value to an out-of-the-box impression.
  7. Sorry to hear that. Graduating college is one of the worst things that can happen to you.
  8. I will be nice to get some more impressions of the GS-1000. Earl, my concerns were at the other end of the spectrum -- I suspect they have a bit too much bass for me (like the PS-1s) I hope we can get a pair for the next Cinci meet.
  9. Putting the polls aside, until a majority actually elects new leadership, the current one is supported as far as I'm concerned. Maybe things will be different in November.
  10. Does the ultra-low impedence present any sort of challenge for amplification? Apparently not from your comments, but can you detect much differences from various amps?
  11. I fear we've become numb to it. Every couple of weeks it seems, we learn about some new and worse invasion of our privacy. Yet, I must confess, each time I feel certainly less suprised but also less moved. I've come to expect it. And I don't think I'm alone. I have no doubt that the country, as a whole, is angry. But it seems that we feel powerless, like there's nothign we can do. Vote them out? You bet. But that's many months or years away. Meanwhile, will the next revelation be?

    new tool album

I just started listening to it. This is the first Tool album I've bought and really like it so far. Although I have to agree that the recording quality is, at best, inconsistent.
  13. Sloth, have you written a review of the Desktop on any of the boards? I'm considering a purchase.
  14. Full disclosure -- for some reason, a lot of the AT cans just sounds weird to me. The W5000 was no exception: bizzare and incoherent. In fact, the AT I liked best was -- I can't quite remember the name, but it had a JPN in in it. 11JPN or something like that.

    new tool album

I think it's wrong that the last message in the Tool thread is about Bob Saget. I bought 10,000 days and gave it a listen in the car. I liked it, and it's next on the list for heavier listening.
  16. For those interested, Tyll posted a graph of the GS-1000's frequency response at Head-fi. Think Beyer 990.

    Synergy List?

    Bada PH-1 ---> CD3000 PPX ---> CD3000 Gilmore v.1 ---> K701 Gilmore v.1 ---> RS-1
  18. "Words of wisdom, Lloyd. Words of wisdom." While no one wins in war of words, the alternative of forced (moderated) silence just makes it build up until it explodes.
  19. Was anyone here at the meet who actually saw this thing? I can't wade through the pages and pages of BS about it on Head-fi.
  20. In silver it has a vintage 70s look.
  21. To simplify things, each of the two major parties have their in-the-bag voters. This does not mean that these voters support all Democrat or Republican policies, but only that they're generally not going to vote for the other party. It seems that most elections are decided by "swing" voters. I've heard a lot of talk about swing voters, about how the Democrats should do well in the November election if the poll numbers are to be believed, but I was hoping to hear some personal stories about those who may have voted for Bush in 2000 or 2004 (and other local Republicans), but are planning to with the Democrats this year.
  22. Seeing as the GOP and our President have such low approval ratings these days, and that even elder GOP personalities have warned about a rough election for the Republicans, I was wondering if anyone here, who may have voted Republican in the last couple of elections, is planning on voting differently come November?

    AKG 701

That what I was thinking. In all fairness, I haven't directly compared them two yet. I suppose I will someday soon. The problem is that it's not so enjoyable. I'd much rather just listen. I may move the dollar value up eventually.

    AKG 701

I'm becoming more and more convinced that the 701 is the best dynamic headphone I've heard that retails under $696.
