  1. and if someone tries to fuck with you or your shit--just whop them a few times nice and hard in the head with it. Not only a ghetto stand, but a deadly ghetto pimp weapon.
  2. or it could be the other way around that is the opinion you hold isn't your own. insecurity isn't thinking for one's self. He wasn't asking you to leave, but making a point.
  3. means... Isn't that a nice thought.
  4. wait until you get the B-52 I never had such ear pain as I did with the Raptor--needed to crank it up for the music to sound right because otherwise it had a thin presentation. The B-52 is as far as I understand it two slightly upgraded Raptors. And Ray probably voices his amps with either the 508.24 and the G08, which are full and silky smooth sounding sources. Though, the G08 has some unnatural sound qualities and can flavor the sound a bit processed and digitalized. Can't forget Ray listens very loud and assuming that's where his amps are optimized. isolation booth (disassembled and assembled pics--please)

    slow forum

just got here... but the site seems to moves like a hare \
  6. you can read pretty much all about it here in the don't use Head-Fi's resources thread.
  7. yes, I agree. As far as I know only one is in existence and is now owned by jp11801. But I've pretty much provided all the info I know about the HD-2 (AKA-odin). If enough people start bugging Craig about it. It might result in a small run.
  8. Has he heard even one RS Audio amp? If he has, has he compared it against any other headphone amps such as Eddie Current, HeadAmp, HeadRoom, SinglePower, Woo, etc... Much of the info that is provided in those pro mag reviews and such people like Great Northern Sound is just regurgitate information. Most of these people have spent little time with headphones or even headphone amps. And where do they get most, if not all, of that info--guess (big hint--head-fi). RSA amps aren't bad--but they are overpriced, overrated and over-hyped--and without hearing/comparing a few amps you'll never know what you actually like. It's unforunate, but true. All I can say is trust your own ears and test a few amps. And after you've done so if you still want to sink $5K into the B-52 by all means go right ahead. As long as you know, you're picking an extremely expensive amp after doing your homework.
  9. You've not delved deep enough into the Head-Fi search engine, but if you take the time to look you'll find negatives. On Head-Fi you mainly see the outside of the chassis, but here you see the inside. And usually the truth is somewhere in the middle. A lot of what you read on Head-Fi is sheer customer mania. And there's other stuff such as some manufacturers are ignored or not liked (during different periods) whereas I believe Ray built his first headphone amp at jude's suggestion and has always pretty much maintained a good relationship with those running that site.
  10. I've not seen Tyrion beating the RS drum as of recent.
  11. The Raptor has had many recalls/changes within the last few years of it's release as had the Hornet. Raptor: issue w/ chassis hum issue driving low impedance headphones power supply heat issue... ($50 partial or $200 full) (might be more don't know) Hornet: issue w/ the original jacks (too loose) different cap even the replacement jacks are loose and some (as I have had) killed the cap as a result of the loose connection with the "new" jacks then the "M" modification.... ($15)
  12. You should, at least, consider other amps besides the B-52. And yes, I've heard it. But, IMO, it's overpriced and overrated.
  13. If you do it, I would put the rack outside and have a small hole just for the headphone cable to run through since any noise from your source and amp (if it makes any) will only get heightened and amplified in that dead quiet listening isolation booth.
  14. planting seeds... what about one forming their own opinion without external influences. I bet if you bitch with all these negative comments to the Senn rep and ask and push politely for the HD600s you might just get it. I can't see them ever returning to you your personal HD580s at this point.
  15. First--be thankful they upgraded you because I believe those are more expensive than the 580s. I suppose they probably had an option to give you refurbished instead of new. And why not see if you like these before you start making calls. Unless you have to have the 580s, which at this point may not even be a possibility.

    Pretty

maybe they could make that red gem looking thing on the end blink in time w/ the beat
  17. I bet you'll find much more listening enjoyment with your new source and you won't need to jack the volume up either. If you decide to listen loud (on occasion and taking breaks when you do ) I think the new source will greatly reduce the likelihood that you'll experience this ringing again.

    Pretty

    I don't like. Pretty fruity!
  19. What CD player were you listening to when you noticed this ringing in your ears? I assume it wasn't the $5000 source, and if not--what pricy source did you buy? I can listen at pretty loud levels, if I wish. But it is dependent on the recording quality of the CD and I don't do it for long and thereafter take a break. In my experience with the HD650s and different amps and sources--I would first point my finger at the source. Though, it is best to listen at moderate levels. The only time I had such ringing in my ears was with the E5 -> UR4 -> Raptor -> HD650s. It went way after a day or two, but returned almost immediately when I went back to listening to this set-up and at moderate levels. I changed interconnects to the M-Paths, which helped. At the time I blamed the amp and interconnects, but after more time with different sources I firmly believe the E5 had been mainly responsible for this phenomenon.
  20. When I looked for the leatherheads only one pair showed up on Audiogon. And from that point on I regularly peruse the listings there and have not seen another. I've only seen one pair on eBay about 18 months ago. Yet there have been at least a handful exchange hands, if not more, on Head-Fi. So, IMO, you're best bet is Head-Fi or here. If not for Iron_Dreamer sending a reserve pm on my behalf, I doubt I would have scored my pair. I'll keep an eye out, and if one pops up I'll try to reserve them for you. Fingers Crossed!
  21. thanks! no nib--it's not a fountain pen, but a roller. but you could just be messing with me, if so I am clueless
  22. Thanks. Can't or don't even want to think about that. \
  23. well, I've been hesitant to post this--but I recently received this pen as a gift. I am afraid to take it out of the house. Krone Precious Metals Collection - Sterling Roller (pic doesn't do it justice--it's classy in an understated old-school vintage way)
