  1. I haven't seen any go for over $2k but very frequently they go for $1500.
  2. Sorry about the downtime today, according to the data center they were having some power problems with the rack where my server is located. Everything appears to be running fine at the moment. Let me know if you see anything out of the ordinary going on.
  3. I've been getting into Linux a bit lately and so far I really like Ubuntu the best. It's easy to use and their forums are a wealth of information. Ubuntu 7.04 just came out today and I figured I'd mirror it here: Ubuntu 7.04 Desktop (32-bit) Ubuntu 7.04 Desktop (64-bit) Ubuntu 7.04 Server (64-bit)
  4. I think thats only the R10 and the K340.
  5. Personally I don't think it's a very good product, it's overpriced and it's not a device that people really need. I think what we'll see happen is all the rabid Apple fans will slurp it up because thats what they do. But after that initial sales surge I doubt it will do very well.

    Pre-Amp Suggestions

Actually no I really don't need much or any gain I suppose, thats part of the reason why the Dragon won't work very well, just way too much gain. I actually have been looking a few transformer volume control options but honestly I just don't know that much about them.

    Pre-Amp Suggestions

You have no idea how long that would take
  8. I think Dusty is on the right track here, if you are going to use them a lot and they are speakers you really want and plan to keep for years then go ahead and get them. You can worry about room acoustics later.

A pair of these D-Sonic Magnum 500M which are driving these Selah Audio 3D
  13. I'd like some recommendations for a pre-amp. Not really concerned if its tube or ss though I would prefer tube. Only real requirement is to keep it under $2k and it must have a remote volume control (remote source selection would be nice as well). So far these two have caught my eye a bit: http://diyhifisupply.com/diyhs_basie.htm and amb's beta22 if I can find someone to build one for me .
  14. Wow I didn't even know this was coming out thanks for the heads up!
  15. You might also want to consider the LR 1 Line Router from Mapletree Audio

    Here we go again...

Still pretty early on but so far they seem to have an amazing horizontal off-axis response. As far as the vertical off-axis response it's pretty good except for the treble as pretty much all ribbon tweeters suffer from rather poor vertical off-axis response.

    Here we go again...

The speakers arrived yesterday and while I'm just driving them with an old rotel amp till the new amps arrive I must say that I'm already impressed. They have this wonderful ability to to totally disappear in the room and let the music take hold of you. Very engaging, dynamic sound. Great stuff so far. I'll post some pics tonight if I can pull myself away from listening for a couple minutes .
  19. Well it was 6 or 7 million tubes
  20. If I didn't just buy new speakers I'd be all over this

    Here we go again...

I've only heard them once before but I was completely blown away. Wonderful tonality and powerful dynamics. I'll of course post more impressions and pictures after they arrive. This particular pair is a demo pair with very little use, I paid $2850 shipped they are $5K new. I'll be powering them with a pair of monoblocks that use the ICE power modules that are used in all the belcanto, ps audio, etc amps these days.
  22. Could be a cool thing for people that watch a lot of movies with headphones.
  23. Well the speaker bug has bit again, I just couldn't pass up on a deal I saw for a demo pair of these: They are Selah Audio 3D's. http://selahaudio.com/id134.html
  24. Yep
  25. I'm not surprised you didn't like them when I heard the edition 7's I thought they were the worst headphones I'd heard. I really doubt Ultrasone can make a decent sounding headphone.
