I wonder about that as well, right after I bought the RA Opus 21 out of the blue I received a PM from Ori offering me a "deal" on a DIN-to-RCA cable that he just happened to have around. I did report this to the HF mods and I believe since it was only the first time he was reported he was given a warning. So taking that incident and the amp fiasco philodox had with him into consideration it's safe to say he's a complete and utter fucking moron.
I have been watching again for the past month or so and surprisingly it has been very good again. Also I think they made the right choice to decide now how much longer the show will go on for: http://www.darkhorizons.com/news07/070507g.php
It's really pretty simple if you say something negative about certain (seems like almost all) products you get raked over the coals. If you don't like something you shouldn't have to pussyfoot around it or say it in a more tactful manner to avoid hurting someones feelings. Just plain stupid.
Has anyone heard the Aesthetix Calypso? I can get a fairly good deal on a used one, I'm just a bit concerned it'll struggle a bit driving my power amps.
Sorry about the downtime today, according to the data center they were having some power problems with the rack where my server is located. Everything appears to be running fine at the moment. Let me know if you see anything out of the ordinary going on.
I've been getting into Linux a bit lately and so far I really like Ubuntu the best. It's easy to use and their forums are a wealth of information.
Ubuntu 7.04 just came out today and I figured I'd mirror it here:
Ubuntu 7.04 Desktop (32-bit)
Ubuntu 7.04 Desktop (64-bit)
Ubuntu 7.04 Server (64-bit)
Personally I don't think it's a very good product, it's overpriced and it's not a device that people really need. I think what we'll see happen is all the rabid Apple fans will slurp it up because thats what they do. But after that initial sales surge I doubt it will do very well.
Actually no I really don't need much or any gain I suppose, thats part of the reason why the Dragon won't work very well, just way too much gain. I actually have been looking a few transformer volume control options but honestly I just don't know that much about them.
I think Dusty is on the right track here, if you are going to use them a lot and they are speakers you really want and plan to keep for years then go ahead and get them. You can worry about room acoustics later.
I'd like some recommendations for a pre-amp. Not really concerned if its tube or ss though I would prefer tube. Only real requirement is to keep it under $2k and it must have a remote volume control (remote source selection would be nice as well).
So far these two have caught my eye a bit: http://diyhifisupply.com/diyhs_basie.htm and amb's beta22 if I can find someone to build one for me .
