Those were morphsci's to which I was referring, but atothex thinks I'm crazy. I'm on the lookout for a Yamaha ortho (you bastards), but I want one that's essentially NOS.

One of the many things I like about meets is you get to see and talk to people about how they listen to/live with their gear and music. I tend toward short, intense listening sessions. But I know that many of you go for the long, blissed out approach. Fun to see different "styles." And I realize that's almost infinitely dorky. Also, I was pleased to hear from Vicki that there are days when she thinks her gear just doesn't sound right. I've felt that way over the last 2 days. It's all sounding very bright and muddy at the same time.

I liked them and the build quality was better than I expected. My only complaints are 1) I felt like they sounded a bit veiled and 2) price.

At least your meetings sound cool. I recommend telling the folks at JH Audio to make sure that the red is dark enough. I think the lighter reds get a little pinkish. And now you should stand up on your chair and start chanting, "USA! USA!" Your colleagues will like that.

If I were to get a pair, and I most certainly am not getting a pair, I would do the left earpiece in smoky black and the right earpiece in smoky red.

'stretch, my Stereophile just came today and I just read the article. I agree it's a generally good review, especially explaining the tech stuff without getting too complicated. However, I didn't get an idea of the sound signature of the damn thing from the review, which always annoys me. Also, the reviewer basically says, oh yeah and it sounds the same as the Bel Canto. I agree with you that it's a rave, but Stereophile just makes me go . Except when I see my NAD C372 on the recommended list--just like you said. Also, the DAC looks TEH SEXY TIME in black.

Colin, what amp will you be using with them? I remember loving them out of the GLite, which surprised me. Then I heard them out of a Cary rig (Xciter maybe?) and it was ear-splitting awful. But perhaps that was due to the fact that the source was spewing out Metallica's classical music--disgusting.
