I'm a big A2 fan. As for the Viennas, I have the Bachs and they are anything but forward.
  2. The Maggies have always interested me. Would they need a sub?

I have read only good things.

I'm also going to throw Vienna Acoustics into the mix for your consideration. I live mine. AudiogoN ForSale: Vienna Acoustics Haydn Grand
  5. He can spin that little known Miles Davis/Pixies/Black Flag collaboration.
  6. This thread is turning out to be really useful to me. It's nice to be able to tell people that they can have a musically satisfying system that will put most of the off the shelf stuff to shame for around $1k. How do you folks feel about PSB speakers?
  7. Dusty, he listens to jazz, indie rock, punk rock, and assorted other genres. It's a relatively large space, though, I don't know the square footage. But it's an open floorplan type environment. My guess is he'll want something high bandwith. He's not against floorstanders, but I'm not sure he has the budget for those.
  8. Wow, that is very helpful info! Thanks!
  9. I agree that audiogon would be preferable, but I'd also like to give him a "new" option for warranty/service etc.
  10. Doing a little research for a friend who'd like a CD player and speakers (and amp if he doesn't go with active monitors). He can't go above $1000.00 and preferably would like to spend less. He is not yet using a computer as source, so I think the CD player is a must. I was thinking of something like this as a starting point: NAD / PSB Package-Audio Advisor Any thoughts?
  11. I'll bet that cat has a story to tell.
  12. Yeah, I just went for the regular old upgrade. So far I notice nothing.
  13. Ric, I think I read that is one of the problems being worked on for the next build, which I believe has been seeded already.
  14. Sorry to hear that Vicki. We'll cheer you up.
  15. Doesn't the Apple Express have an option to connect as a Guest?
  16. Thanks for everyone's input. It probably only makes sense to make a subforum if there is near 100% agreement. It appears that we aren't close to that here. Accordingly, I will be posting about HT stuff in the portable forum.

    Thanks Ric. Bought 2.
  18. Ate, drank, ran. Generally had a good day.
  19. heh, awesome.
  20. Ric, so I lose the built in programs with Leopard? I have iLife '09 (upgrade I think) on disc, does that help me? I've never done a fresh install on a mac, so I'm a little hesitant, but my mac has shown the sluggishness that I associate with needing a clean install. @'reks...laughing.
  21. Jesus, that's awesome Nate.
  22. Is a clean install the way to go?
  23. Dammit. Sorry I didn't make it. Temper tantrums here tonight.
