I listened to my UE-10 for the first time in a while on the plane yesterday. The iPhone is a giant pain in the ass. But once I got all plugged in, I liked what I heard. The UE-10 isn't convenient, but it sure is good. But I miss a portable amp.

More control over Mac volume
The Monkey replied to The Monkey's topic in GoRedwings19's Computer Help Hotline
Thanks, not quite it. I guess what I'm looking for is a volume limiter such that the volume cannot be set beyond a certain level, or alternatively, something that would lock the volume so people couldn't turn it way too high. -
More control over Mac volume
The Monkey replied to The Monkey's topic in GoRedwings19's Computer Help Hotline
Not that this pissing contest over OSes isn't interesting and all, but... Does anyone know if there is a utility out there to lock the volume settings for OS X? Or, alternatively, a way to limit the maximum volume, I guess like the option on the iPod. -
Sorry if I'm late to the party on this one, but just found this little hint: Use fine-grain volume control in 10.5 | Mac OS X Hints | Macworld

Interesting. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on these. Also, it appears that they are all acrylic. Are any of the custom mfrs. doing softer materials?

Sweet. Ask Nate about a certain Beyer that he might have in his possession...

I'm not even in the market for it and I'm tempted. -
Me like Project. EDIT: Also, Nate, you're getting hiss regardless of source? I ask because isn't the Touch a bit hissy to begin with?

Thanks for the tip. Tried it--I still prefer tag & rename under Windows. -
^^ You gonna hurt me Reks? I'm already pissed off at the coffee maker. The Bodum will be replaced this weekend. Coffee is a pain in the ass.

So what's this about ALO breaking HP jacks?
The Monkey replied to omendelovitz's topic in Headphone Amplification
So in order to use the 5/5.5G iMod, you must purchase an ALO superblingLODsilverwhosit? And this is not a violative tying arrangement how? -
So what's this about ALO breaking HP jacks?
The Monkey replied to omendelovitz's topic in Headphone Amplification
Forgive my density, but these ALO products are just line out docks, right? The straight ipod LODs don't bypass anything internal to the iPod, correct? And the iMod LOD has Black Gates in it. Why does it need caps? Someone please 'splain.
