  1. I joined the fun.
  2. Dan, that's sad news, I'm sorry to hear it.
  3. Ugh. But how's the goat?
  4. ay, there's the rub.
  5. Yup, just saw those two. Very tempting...
  6. No more than $1500. Alternatively, I am considering the GES, which may warm things up a bit.
  7. I need a new DAC. The DAC1 is awfully bright with my Stax rig. It's bright with other rigs too. It's just bright.
  8. Got 2 nasty voicemails from clients. Clients suck ass.
  9. Beatles when I was younger. But Stones for a long time now.
  10. The ERS paper will result in EXTREME bass, correct?
  11. Yeah, good suggestion, will do. The box looks like it has been opened a few times before. Anyone have any mod suggestions while I'm pokin' around in there?
  12. Ok, plot thickens. I just switched reconnected the RCAs to the second input on the amp (Source is DAC1). And now it works fine. Any thoughts?
  13. Oy, maybe I'm not so stupid after all. I can get the level up on the right channel a little better, but definitely not where it should be. Help.
  14. Sweet Lord Jesus am I stupid. I didn't realize the volume knob controlled the channels individually.
  15. Check that. It IS the amp (SRM-1/MK-2). Worked fine for a while, but now it is pretty darn hot and the right channel is out with only an occasional faint buzzing. Advice appreciated.
  16. Gang, Need some help here. My Sigs are playing only out of the left channel. The amp is fine, tested with the Lambda Pros. Seller, who seems like an honest guy, said they were fine before I bought. He did remove the foam that had deteriorated before shipping. Is there anything I should check first before contacting the seller? I've never taken apart a Stax phone before.
  17. Well, y'know it's the last year in the old stadium and all. Blue Hawaiis will be given out at the last home game. A nice little touch for the fans.
  18. Took the Little Monkey to his first Yankee game. Picked up the SRM-1/MK-2 and Lambda Pros. Sent in the Desktop Balanced to be repaired. Now drinking a Magic Hat #9. A pretty damn fine day.
  19. In da house. The amp is a little dinged up (fully disclosed in the auction), but the Lambda Pros are in as-new condition. The guy I bought them from has an audio store and they found the stuff during a move. Even the foam was fully intact. Until I touched it and it started to disintegrate. Does that say something about me or the phones? Impressions to come...
  20. SRM1/MKII in the house tomorrow, along with a Lambda Pro to go with the Signatures. So from no Stax to lotsa Stax in no time flat. I look forward to posting impressions tomorrow.
  21. The Monkey posted a topic in Headphones
Now available at HeadRoom: http://www.headphone.com/products/headphones/earpad/beyerdynamic-dt-235-black.php I never heard the 231, but I did like the 250-250. I'll be interested to read some impressions as this could be a nice bang-for-the-buck or gift can.
  22. Cool thing is that I can pick it up in person, too. I'm beginning to understand that in addition to the sweet sound, part of the fun of this Stax business is the thrill of the chase.
  23. We're in business! http://cgi.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/auc.pl?spkrplan&1212544437&item&auc
  24. I mean more that the proprietor "invented" every headphone mod on earth and that no one on earth is allowed to do the same.
