  1. dunno. i'm pretty sure it still uses the scd-1 transport, but I can't be sure.
  2. Yeah, and the msrp of the Cary went up $2500 after they fixed the transport issues. Seems to be a pattern amongst sacdp manufacturers. The Cary uses the SCD-1 transport, as I'm sure you all know.
  3. thats a fine question to ask. i'll commence the research. there is one on audiogon write now for $1600 with just shy of the full warranty left. seller says he'll help the buyer send it in if there are any issues, but who knows where the seller will be in a year when the transport kaputs. it seems like the best you can get service wise on SACD players are from the likes of John Tucker and Dan Wright.
  4. congrats! poking around the internet, the krell of course has had its share of transport issues, up through the MKII version. MKIII everything seems to be fine, since they are using a completely different transport. Everyone seems to love the sound though.
  5. grats deepak!
  6. bah! now i'm getting pressure via IRC to go for the krell.
  7. fukn madjix yes!! this topic is got way OT and and the unreasonable but dreamy and seductive part of me just wants an SCD-1 again. bah.
  8. acomdata PDHD1000USE-72 1TB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache USB 2.0 / eSATA External Hard Drive from newegg. out of HD space again. this will be my first 1TB drive.
  9. EMS will ship fine to Israel, but that's beside the point here. No point at all dealing with a non established member if its makes you nervous.
  10. Sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of trey urinating in my ear.
  11. I've been using eac for all my burning purposes since my last post in this thread. It works perfectly, never a bad disc.
  12. people who complain about the pj530s lack of bass aren't getting a proper seal. I suggest you dampen the frog heavily with your own saliva before insertion.
  13. mark does provide an interesting piece of information in there: So it looks like the transport issues were resolved in the Mk2 players. There are players for sale on agon with this designation.
  14. happy birthday purk! thanks for all your friendly help over the past couple of years.
  15. Also, this is the first evening I've had to listen for an extended period since I bent the arc upwards in the middle in an effort to reduce the pressure of the strap on the top of my head. I had to bend the arc directly above the housings ever so slightly inwards, and set the crease on the pads so they could form a line from one pad to the other directly along my eyebrow, but it looks like its working out well. Great sound, good comfort. No headache issues. I'll continue the experiment tomorrow night.
  16. They can drive them, just not to the max. This was definitely confirmed by my experience with the BHSE prototype at Canjam. But I am listening to my O2s as we speak with an SRD-7/Mk2, and it sounds lovely. But the BHSE adds more bass, much more midrange (my god that midrange!!), more coherent soundstage, and even sharpens the treble without making it bright or fatiguing.
  17. amazing pictures as always Peter. henceforth, this shall be known as the R10 stupor. gawd I loved those phones.
  18. I hope you like black. Seriously, its a really solid set. I haven't spent too much time with it yet, but the cases are hard, the slip cases are tough with metal NIN logos on them, and it looks like the vinyl sleeves have some kind of felt lining. Very fancy.
  19. Thanks purk, this is the kind of info I'm looking for.
  20. I'm still doing research as to what type of hirez player I want. While a universal unit would be cool, the fact is that I have tons of SACDs but only a handful of DVD-A's. So in addition to universal (modded) units, I am considering stock SACD players. I see the Marantz SA-11S1 and Krell SACD Standard mentioned quite a bit, but have not really heard anything about their performance from anyone whose opinion I trust. So give me your opinions, people I trust! Anyone ever own or hear or know someone who has owned or heard one of these players? Or even better, are there any other SACD only players you'd like to recommend? My price range is <$2000, and I want something that can hold its own against the 840C. Thanks!
  21. Just got my super duper deluxe signed LE box of Ghosts. Its simply gorgeous.
  22. July 2: Mobile, AL. (Saenger Theatre)
  23. 2-3, so $60-$90 a month, Acoustic Sounds takes care of the shipping. Pretty much maxes my music budget, but I'm sure I'll find a way to squeeze a new LP in there now and again.
