  1. Good flick.
  2. Stax amp question: I might find myself in need of a normal bias Stax amp in the not to distant future. This amp will be used to power my SR-Lambda. An additional pro bias output is a plus, just for flexibility's sake. Price range is ~$500, but I'm not married to that price, and would like to hear all my options. There's a nice list of discontinued amps on the Stax Earspeakers Wiki, but its hard to discern what the quality choices are in those amps. Thanks!
  3. i have yet to try the regular, I drink the sugar free. I'll have to order some of the regular, but the sugar free is great, if you are into diet drinks.
  4. swell idea.
  5. yay maggies! i'd love to hear some maggies some day. they read like a speaker I would enjoy.
  6. All these differing opinions make me eager to hear the current stax lineup.

  8. i'm a bit confuzzled as to how many speakers you will be purchasing and what application they will be used for. because at least to me, once the price hits three large my buck ain't bangin'.
  9. OII Headband Update: After reading a bit through the Stax thread on HF, I saw I could also focus my bending efforts on the bend directly above the housing, not just on the arc as a whole. At first I tried to bend them so they were basically flat, basically making the headband a continuous arc. This left the bottoms of the earcups way to far off the side of my face. So I bent the arc back into its stock shape (I had it squeezed it in so the arc was longer), still I had problems with the bottom of the earcup. So I tried the reverse, and bend the bend above the housing back to its original position and then even further in. I then gave the arc a good squeeze so it wouldn't press against the top of my head (big head), and was delighted to find the headphone now grips my head very securely and comfortably, with the earcups hooking quite nicely underneath my ears. Feels very secure and very comfortable, and the sound is just fantastic. Here's my theory: when the bass and treble sounds right, you've gotten your earpad rotation correct. When the midrange sounds magical and the soundstage coherent, you've gotten your headband arc properly bent for your head, or at least you are on the right path.
  10. i have failed, you have won. :'( also i do generally dislike bananas and big band jazz.
  11. the 1900s, jesus, relax.
  12. the poll is not intended to cover the entire history of music, just the decades listed. like if I said choose your favorite fruit: apples oranges pineapple i'm not hatin' on bananas, I just want to know which of the above three fruits you like best.

  15. acapella huh? is there an instrumental only LP?
  16. for me, the late 70s was when post-punk was king. So combine the 70s as being the age of prog with the age of post-punk and throw early and late seventies Dead in there for good measure (pigpen or mydland = pure win every time), and you have my favorite musical decade.

  18. IIRC, the vinyl is on Earache, who sources all their vinyl from a plant somewhere in Europe that is only able to press vinyl using a CD as the master source. Bad!!
