  1. Thanks for posting that. I needed a good laugh.
  2. All I know is it sounds really friggin' good. I've never looked back since getting mine.
  3. Panasonic TC-P50VT25 Plasma 3D TV Review by Chris Boylan on BigPictureBigSound You know you want it.
  4. I will say that the way the literature is written up it wasn't like "Your life is over and you have a POS until you burn this in!" but yes you definitely make fair points. Ah. Way too expensive. The MSRP is $3000. I can't tell where you live but if you're in the USA I know you can find better legit deals on the Internet from places like Music Direct and Audio Advisor. I know Monkey was able to buy his through a legit dealer with an even better price then what I'm talking about here but again, that's in USA. I contacted that dealer myself back when I was in the hunt and was really impressed. In fact, that dealer is the one that made the choice for me a lot more difficult in the end. If you're outside of the USA then hopefully there are some others that can help you out. There are folks around here that know a lot more about this than I do but even I'm pretty sure that a DAC change is only going to go so far for you if you're looking at both your amp and at least one pair if not both of your headphones with the evil eye. I also have the Sennheiser 800 headphones but I have a different amp: The HeadAmp GS-X. I'd love to hear a pair of K1000s someday. Heh, I'd also love to hear a Stax setup someday.
  5. It was. That wasn't my preference. Unfortunately, I had very little free time and there was a lot going on during that time period.
  6. Quick question although I know all of this is highly subjective due to people's ears, equipment, etc: Roughly how many hours would you say you've put into that Wyred Dac-2? The reason I ask is because I own one and for my own purposes I found that they weren't kidding in their literature when they talked about subtle improvements after 100 and then 200 hours of use including more warmth and such. I personally do not find the W4SD2 to sound the way that you're describing any longer* but then again, that's just me talking according to my ears and my setup. No big deal either way. * I will say during the first roughly 50 hours or so of use give or take I did feel that it sounded a little bit along the lines of what you're describing. It needed to open up and warm up a bit more and that's exactly what gradually happened for me. You really can't go wrong with either this PWD or the Wyred Dac-2 IMO. It was a hell of a tough choice for me between those two, the Neko, and a couple of others. At the end of the day, whatever sounds best to you is the right answer. Good luck!
  7. Born on Christmas day. That's cool. Merry Birthday or whatever it is guys.
  8. Wow. That time table moved up on that a bit. Impressive.
  9. How do you all feel about 5 grand for this?
  10. Same here. I'd have no problems selling my 83 for whatever I could get for something like that especially since I'm starting to now see some early warning signs that my 6 year old Onkyo 1000 that I'm using as a transport may not be much longer for this world. We shall see.
  11. Confirmed. OPPO BDP-93 Pre-release Thread - Page 55 - AVS Forum I agree with him. That release date time window is probably pretty optimistic but you never know. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1292178&highlight=oppo+95
  12. ^^ That surprised me. I'm just going to ask some of the regulars at AVS in the Oppo 93 thread about that to verify.
  13. You shouldn't have any problems. If this thing is only in production for a year or less then something isn't right.
  14. Me: Oppo: Mildly disappointing but not a surprise. That doesn't rule out an eventual 93 to "93SE" trade up well into next year but the official Oppo line on that potential product is denial. For now.
  15. You mean for the forthcoming 93 to a a theoretical but almost assured 93SE? No idea but typically if Oppo has success with something they tend to repeat it. I can't imagine why they wouldn't since they come out the ultimate winner on that setup. Past this, I don't know if they'd give current 83 owners like myself a perk considering I just got the email offering me early purchase. I have 5 days to decide. I would be very surprised if the "general public" isn't able to buy this in time for Christmas.
  16. It can be. Look up reviews of the mighty Pioneer 09FD Blu-Ray player and its video performance. ABT is certainly solid but they're starting to get left behind a little bit.
  17. You, me, and everyone else wants to know that as well. Interface is going to be very important. Given Oppo's track record, I think the odds are good that it'll be something fairly simple and intuitive along the lines of what you're talking about. A lot of folks will want to use this as an all purpose audio machine even without a TV or monitor always on as well so these are the kinds of details we're all all waiting to learn more about.
