  1. Are you guys listening to the stereophile test system? No, I didn't think so. There are fucking leprechauns mating all over that place. We cannot expect to replicate that situation. Damn my light is broken... too extreme tweaking!
  2. Solid state rectification is just as good if not better. Sounds like the HD30 is a real winner.
  3. buuhhh?
  4. Wow, I need to read my posts before I hit that button. The above quote has been edited for clarity. neilvg - I know, it is hard to believe... but I've heard it.
  5. Considering that a pimped out SDS-XLR costs $10k-$15k, I'm going to look at the value of the system here. In any case... I would rather get a HE90 and a cheaper amp than the O2, and as for the HD650. They are not the only dynamic headphones that sound better balanced. Hell, some headphones even sound good unbalanced.
  6. I agree, the price is pretty crazy. I mean, my new balanced amp is going to probably cost me one fifth of that when all is said and done... and if it is not three or four times better than the B-52, I will be absolutely shocked. Thats some good math there.
  7. LOL... good point, I missed that.
  8. Fair enough... I wasn't aware you had an ES-1 on order. I think it is just a matter of taste in that case, as even balanced, the HD650 is really not my cup of tea.
  9. This really depends on what the O2 is hooked up to... if it is an ES-1, I seriously doubt the validity of your claim given what I heard at the National Meet.
  10. Why does he always put his model names in quotes?! I don't know why, but I find that so irritating.
  11. You're not buying my new amp are you? EDIT: My bad, you didn't say balanced, did you?
  12. Hmmm... I'm pretty sure that was a joke, but I've never been blown away by the Gilmore Lite. I've heard Dynalo's that were great, but that one never grabbed me. As for the Raptor, it is actually not bad with high impedance headphones. Given the price though and the design flaws... I wouldn't touch it with someone else's dick.
  13. Yup, I got me a blue bordered ringer from that site... it's gonna be sweet.
  14. Check the update in the head-fi thread of the same name... there is a link to getting problem solved... anything. Even a G String.
  15. Personally, I think that in a computer as source setup Toslink is actually preferable as it is immune to most of the noise that is rampant in such a system. For a CD player to DAC setup I would go with RCA, BNC or AES in a hearbeat as they actually do sound better... but for a computer it is too hard to make them happy enough to truely shine.
  16. Cool, if you ever need ideas on mods for it, send looser101 a PM on here or head-fi... he's been tweaking his for a year or so.
  17. Those features are great... but this thing costs more than twice as much right?
  18. Those numbers... so accurate... this 'Ben' guy must really know his stuff!!!!!!111!!!!!one
  19. You could always get a chaintech av710 for bit perfect output. The CI Audio DAC is a nice performer. My friend Renato [forum member looser101] has done quite a bit of mods to his and it is a very nice sounding source given what it costs.
  20. hehe... I was just bugging you.
  21. Iron is dirty, but for Grado's you don't have much of a choice. Why the hell do you care anyways Aerius? Not listening to your K340's any more?
  22. DAC1 should be Class S ...S is for Suck The Lavry Black DA10 is great, but I doubt it would make Class A if they knew their ass from a hole in the ground and actually reviewed some good equipment. I think that if you take the whole unit into account and the price, the Lavry Black DA10 should be Class A+... but just as a DAC, I'm not so sure.
  23. DIY or something cheap like a Zhaolu is nice since you can mod the fuck out of it and not have too much reason to worry. If I bought a $2500 DAC I would be too scared to mod it... I might not need to, but still.
  24. I tried it out at the National and it was a very nice balanced amp. One of my favourites at the meet.
