  1. Check the update in the head-fi thread of the same name... there is a link to getting problem solved... anything. Even a G String.
  2. Personally, I think that in a computer as source setup Toslink is actually preferable as it is immune to most of the noise that is rampant in such a system. For a CD player to DAC setup I would go with RCA, BNC or AES in a hearbeat as they actually do sound better... but for a computer it is too hard to make them happy enough to truely shine.
  3. Cool, if you ever need ideas on mods for it, send looser101 a PM on here or head-fi... he's been tweaking his for a year or so.
  4. Those features are great... but this thing costs more than twice as much right?
  5. Those numbers... so accurate... this 'Ben' guy must really know his stuff!!!!!!111!!!!!one
  6. You could always get a chaintech av710 for bit perfect output. The CI Audio DAC is a nice performer. My friend Renato [forum member looser101] has done quite a bit of mods to his and it is a very nice sounding source given what it costs.
  7. hehe... I was just bugging you.
  8. Iron is dirty, but for Grado's you don't have much of a choice. Why the hell do you care anyways Aerius? Not listening to your K340's any more?
  9. DAC1 should be Class S ...S is for Suck The Lavry Black DA10 is great, but I doubt it would make Class A if they knew their ass from a hole in the ground and actually reviewed some good equipment. I think that if you take the whole unit into account and the price, the Lavry Black DA10 should be Class A+... but just as a DAC, I'm not so sure.
  10. DIY or something cheap like a Zhaolu is nice since you can mod the fuck out of it and not have too much reason to worry. If I bought a $2500 DAC I would be too scared to mod it... I might not need to, but still.
  11. I tried it out at the National and it was a very nice balanced amp. One of my favourites at the meet.
  12. The Ruger is a hot looking gun.
  13. It's not Fred, but it's definately not Billy either... the mystery deepens. Probably either one of the admins on here or Jude.
  14. Hi Fred, We met at Ray's big meet in Chicago at his house. Kevin was there as well. My Question: You listened to my portable rig [AKG K271S] and I think it was either a track off of Mezzanine or Blue Lines that was playing. Lets just say that something happened that startled you. What happened? I hope you are doing well. I seem to be in the minority here in that I like you and Kevin both. I've heard enough gossip about the both of you and I really don't care to be frank. There are always two sides to each story. - Jason
  15. Well, I had to be sure that you hadn't... so that I could warn Tom.
  16. Not sure, sounds like you are set to me.
  17. Solid core copper!
  18. Oh, its the SA5000's that you recabled... my bad.
  19. I'm confused... I thought you already had a pair which were recabled with super expensive siltech wire. Was that the review pair? Did they thank you for the upgrade?
  20. The K340's respond very well to balanced operation...
  21. I've also talked to Tyll about his ideas and I think they are great personally. I am sorry that Jude took this stance on it.
  22. I think if I get another headphone ever, it will probably be a pair of MANUFAKTUR 600 ohm DT990's. They sound like something I would enjoy.

I figured as much. I wasn't really meaning that you were overcharging your customers... more that this stuff shouldn't cost that much. WOW I knew Black Gates were expensive... but that is insane.

The silver wiring upgrade is insanely high priced. I'm not sure how many BlackGates are in there, but $650 seems a little overboard. I don't really have any issue with the base price as Justin does do great work. As for the jacks... if the upgrade costs that much, whoever is supplying the jacks is absolutely reaming people on them.
