  1. Shit, was just about to post that. Oh well, thanks Jay. Steve also mentioned that you really have to call him... email doesn't work.
  2. Nice, looking forward to hearing your impressions. We should hold off the AKG order because if you like them you might want to get some velour pads and maybe a K501 headband.
  3. No, but I can send an email to a friend on Head-Fi who likely does. I'll let you know when he gets back to me.
  4. Thanks buddy, much appreciated. I might want to order a K501 headband as well depending on the price.
  5. I got this album the other day, it is great.
  6. I need someone in the states to order me a pair of those velour pads sometime... its impossible to get them in canada. I'm liking my Cardas recable on the K81D. Too bad the mini jack turned out to be faulty. Need to replace that soon, was thinking about the Canare F12, but the only place that sells them in canada [takefive] only has the cryoed plugs and they are ~$9.
  7. Reks - Good point... I should have thought that out more. I think that an IC like this would sort of drive me crazy. If it got slightly bent or out of perfect alignment I would go crazy. I am sure that with other interconnect topologys this is happening all the time... but at least you don't get to see your IC degrading over time and with use. jpak - oh my god... those look so ghetto.
  8. No, there isn't. Even if that theory is correct, what happens when the cable bends?
  9. Magnet wire is not THAT stiff... I am pretty sure you could do this by hand pretty quickly. Regardless, I think it is a pretty good product. It looks neat and people will buy it. Might even sound good.
  10. Maybe... I think I could do it pretty easily with some simple tools. Like, say, a pencil and a pair of needle nose plyers.
  11. Seems a little pricey to me for IC's made out of simple magnet wire...
  12. Well, the sparhawk books were certainly a carbon copy of the Belgariad/Mallorean books. I have only read the first book in their new series, and that was a while ago... so I'm not sure if they follow that trend. The Redemption of Althalus seemed to be unique to me and I found it an enjoyable read.
  13. Sorry... but after reading the Belgariad and Mallorean series' it just seems like a bad copy of what they already did. Maybe if I read the Sparhawk series' first it would be a different story.
  14. That short edit window is really irritating... A couple things I wanted to add: RE:MacAvoy --- A Trio for Lute is an omnibus of the Damiano series. RE:Tarr --- I haven't read any of her newer stuff, but all of her older 'real world with a fantasy flavour' novels are among my favourites. Oh, and I am assuming you've read Heinlein. If you haven't read Job: A Comedy of Justice, it has a fantasy feel to it and is my favourite book by him.
  15. I liked tailchasers song, but tad williams isn't really all that great IMO. Some recommendations: R. A. MacAvoy - Trio for Lute is my favourite, but it is all good stuff. Tends to be rather hard to find. Guy Gavriel Kay - Anything, but I like Tigana and the Fionavar Tapestry the best. Judith Tarr - The Hound and the Falcon is a good place to start. David and Leigh Eddings - Belgariad and Mallorean series' - The best written wars I've read in a fantasy work. Redemption for Althalus is pretty good too. Stay clear of the Sparhawk crap. I'm reading Ted Dekker's 'White' right now. My Mom sent me the Circle series for christmas. It's not too bad.
  16. I'm not a big fan of the meridian sound, but modded... who knows.
  17. If it looks like it is easy to open I would do the same thing that I did. If you don't have a soldering iron you could always just rip a couple chips or caps off the board. If this is a futureshop or best buy type return I seriously doubt they will be opening it up to check it.
  18. I had an old creative camera... yes, I know I was stupid to buy it. Anyways, it couldn't take a good picture to save its life, so I opened it up and desoldered a bunch of chips. Took it back to futureshop since the screen nolonger worked and got myself a nice point and click 6mp sony camera which I have been very happy with.
  19. Damn, I've lusted after the japans for a while. Congrats man!
  20. I've had pretty good luck with AntiVir, though I have another program specifically for trojans that I run every once and a while though I forget the name of it. Norton is a POS in my experience and takes way to much system resources. For spyware I just use Windows Defender... I know what people think about MS software, but it actually works pretty well, has low overhead and is free.
  21. hehe, me too. Even though I prefer my K340's, I still miss the little guys sometimes...
  22. Yay K271S'!!! I miss mine.
  23. iPods... also poop
  24. The K81DJ scale pretty well to higher end sources and amps, but don't sound like complete garbage out of more modest gear. Hopefully you will be happy with them in the laptop setup.
