Mean? Were there some comments which were deleted? Personally, I think the amp is a joke... balanced RA-1. Gimmie a break. Also, that website is CREEEEEEPY. Children of the corn wearing Grado's. -
Yeah, we're like so elite and better than those people... Totally man!

Yeah, switching to USB made all my problems go away. -
Thanks Sherlock.

I'm convinced that it doesn't exist. BTW, whoever replaced my message with that guy from the Muppets... made me spit my juice.

Yeah, I've used that one myself. [Though you executed it exceptionally well] Can't stand homophobes.

So basically I exaggerated. Sorry. My point still stands, whether it be 1%, 5% or 10%... anyways, no point in continuing this discussion that I can see. I think we both made clear where we are coming from and even got some funny gay jokes out of the situation.

Even if the OEM parts cost several time what I feel the entire cable costs to produce there is still a huge markup. I don't know why you are taking this so personally as I am sure that, working for a premium hifi cable company, you encounter a fair amount of skepticism. LOL... Why does the mind always have to picture something when it reads about it? WHY!?!?!? :'(
-
I respect all the points you make, but frankly, I don't believe you. What is the markup on one of your cables? Care to share? Let me put it this way? What can you buy for $8000. Think about that for a second. Now, think about how much more complicated and costly in materials and research costs 95% of the stuff at that price point is when compared to a goddamn RCA cable? I'm sure they sound great, but there is clearly an ENORMOUS markup here. Eat my fucking cock you hairy ape! Besides, aren't you a marketing guy??? Do you even know what it costs your company to make these cables or what the material costs are?
-
No offense, as I know you work for them, but this Siltech wire had better have crushed dragon bones in it or something. Talk about fucking insane pricing on something that could not possibly cost the company even 1% to fabricate. I'm not talking snake oil here as I have not heard the cables, but what a ripoff!
-
See, I don't know why, but that was the funniest one yet.
-
That is wrong on so many levels.
-
That is great news! The older ones are like 3 times the cost! As for the K81DJ's, I am a bad judge of isolation... but my wife says she can't hear anything when I listen on them and I listen quite loud. aerius - Yeah, though I don't know if it is your standard CCS. I asked him if that is what he was talking about and he said. Well... sort of... and then basically said that he could explain it, but it would take a day.

Secrets, Secrets...

Oh, my bad. Enjoy in that case. It looks like a great power plant for your rig.

He is working on the balanced version and said he would have something by Friday. Not sure if he is going to send me the schematics or what... if he doesn't I will ask, but I'm not going to push him on it. I can understand if he doesn't want to divulge that. One thing that he said which sounded interesting is that he uses a seperate tube off the plate of the gain tubes to create an 'infinite plate resistance circuit' [at least I think that is what he said] which allows the tubes to perform quite a bit better and lowers the impact of tuberolling. [ie. crap tubes sound nearly as good as 'great' tubes] The amp will be using 6H30's [4 of them] and 12sn7's [2 of them] as well as other tubes for regulation and such...
-
Can it handle the power draw of the singlepower? I'm just worried that it will limit dynamics.
-
You're not going to plug your amp into that thing are you?
-
I voted for 3&4 as they are the only ones that don't have something drastically wrong with them. I can't believe so many people voted for #6... Here is hoping that none of these chicks are Eaphans girlfriend.

Yep, Peter McAlister... He is the guy that builds that low cost electrostatic amp, the EA-1. He also has a bunch of dynamic tube amps. Inexpensive, but mine is going to be a little more 'overdone' of course. He has some interesting design choices. We talked over the design and I came away very impressed with his knowledge. He is also the first tube designer [other than mikhail] that has not shyed away from balanced. He had a bunch of reasons as to why he prefers solid state... but he likes tube regulation. I guess we will just have to wait and see what he comes up with. I'm using a bunch of those metal can caps that you are so fond of in the PSU.
