New Denon Cans
Well, as most folks already know, I'm no fan of the current Denons for one reason or another, though I get why people like them. I think they can give a good first impression, especially at meets. It's only when you can sit with them for a bit, and compare them to other headphones, using a variety of amps/sources, their flaws are just a little too much. Still, I'd like to hear improvements in the closed headphone category. I'd also like to hear the D7000, and even modded D5000s. Maybe they are good. I can hope.

DC/Baltimore Regional Meet, August 2nd
Universal. I just happened to be on their website this morning finding yet another audiologist since the one in my area they recommended screwed up my UE11 impressions twice. Anyway, it looks like the super.fi 5s are $169, the extended bass version is $199, a pro version at $259, and a vi version, for use with the iphone, is $189.

:prettyprincess:- interesting sudden plan...interesting to cj, that is
cj, it's time to move out or be treated like and respond like a teenager. That's pretty much the whole deal.- What are you EATING right now?
Wasabi Almonds. Yum.- NKOTB - TTVJ/Millett 307A Headphone Amp
Nice pics. Look forward to reading what you both thought about things.- interesting sudden plan...interesting to cj, that is
Depending on timing, this could be a lot of fun.- interesting sudden plan...interesting to cj, that is
My family took exactly one family vacation in 1971, driving cross-country from Michigan to Disney Land in CA, with all the "educational" stops in between. My brothers and I pounded on each other the entire way, and by the time we hit Disney Land, no one was happy. Don't think we ever fully recovered. I hated Disney Land and have never been to Disney World, even though I've lived in Florida now for over twelve years.- Independence Day Audio Room Projeckt
Looks really good. You're motivating me to get my room together. I still need a good rack, which will make positioning things much easier (using an old, heavy amish-built coffee table at present). The speakers are fine, but I need to work with the sub.- closed headphones...$225ish
I don't know that amp at all. I recommend not getting an amp for awhile if you get the ESW9s. You don't need one. If you want to get an amp later, of about the 10 portable amps I've tried with them, the MiniBox E+ was the best under $200.- APL Denon 3910
Congrats and enjoy! Will you be bringing it to the DC meet?- closed headphones...$225ish
If you're referring to the ESW9s, you can play music at moderate to almost loud and not bother anyone, even if close by. I am not a fan of either the D2000s or DT770s, and though I thought Darth Beyers were fun, I wouldn't consider them if they were my only headphone. I happen to like the ESW9s and think they're worth it when compared to other closed headphones out there. They also don't need an amp, so you can take that out of your budget, though you might want to get one down the line (I liked the inexpensive MiniBox E+ with them), as they can benefit from one. Other folks have been happy with the D2000s. If you live anywhere near a meet, it's really the best way to find out for yourself.- closed headphones...$225ish
I'd suggest, if you're still looking at closed, the ATH-ESW9, unless you have a big head or really big ears. They have a really nice sound, are semi-portable (I wouldn't want to wear them out and about on campus, but good for a dorm or library). They don't really leak too much, but aren't the best for isolation. They run right around $300, but don't need an amp to sound good. On other other hand, if I were living in a dorm, I'd just pick up a pair of Sony MDR-V6s or 7560s. They sound pretty good, can take a bit of a beating, and run around $80, so if something happens to them, it's not that big of a deal. Otherwise, if you can do open, see if you can get some used HD580s or 600s, and you'll have some bucks left over for an amp.- Happy Birthday spritzer and tyrion!!!!!
Happy birthday to both of you. Hope you're having fun right now.- What did you do today?
Got up, went to the gym and worked out, came home and ate, then accidentally took a 6-hour nap. Can't remember the last time I did that. Woke up cranky like a little kid. Now, I can't sleep. This doesn't bode well for tomorrow.- Happy Birthday Augsburger!
Happy Birthday to you!- Post the last thing you bought!
People buying nice stuff. I bought 6 dresses today and a hairbrush. swt61, congrats on the car, and just so you know, the guy on the left is far fatter.- NorCal Summer Meet 6/28/2008

It's okay, dommie. Grawk doesn't hate you. He's just jealous that I let you lick my boots.- hello

cj deserves nice. He's a math geek with amazingly good ears and taste in gear, and although stone-cold sober, he has withstood the full Florida meet experience on two separate occasions now. Besides, it's his birthday!- hello
Welcome, cj, and Happy Birthday!- Happy Birthday PFKMan23!
Happy Birthday! May your day be wonderful.- New O2 + KGSS Rig
Our friend, cj, is also now on this site. Yay for math geeks! - APL Denon 3910
