  1. I just found out that the idiot program director scheduled my radio show from 10PM-midnight instead of midnight-2AM (the same timeslot I've had since the fall of 2000.) Heads will ROLL for this.
  2. Video: The Dick Swett Incident | The Daily Show | Comedy Central Trufax: During my froshling year, I went to Daniel Webster College in Nashua, NH. DWC kind of blew as a school, but it had the advantage of being built on an airport. That year Dick Swett was running for re-election, and he was really popular in Nashua. It was a popular gag to steal "Dick Swett" signs off people's lawns and adorn dorm room walls with them.

  4. It's head-case in smilies:

  11. In Communist Russia, you are too short for post.
  12. Never let technical specs get in the way of some old fashioned Apple hating.

  14. I really do like the harder edged Porcupine Tree stuff. I think my favorite album by them is Deadwing, though I have listened to Fear of a Blank Planet extensively as well. Sadly, looking at their tour schedule, it doesn't look like PT is coming anywhere near me this year. *chuckle* As best I can fathom, the girl in question is against baby production as well; Steven Wilson notwithstanding. She broke up with hey boyfriend over the summer, and his name was definitely not Reap.
  15. Porcupine Tree PWN. Sadly I have never seen them live. A friend of mine has seen them every time they have come to Boston in the last decade or so and says they never fail to impress. She might be a bit biased on the subject however, as she's confessed to me on several occasions that she wants to have Steven Wilson's babies. --- Yesterday I bought a ton of stuff including a softbox and two small par cans + color correction gels. I'm now entering the frightening world of product photography. I have ...very mixed feelings about this. I'm always excited to take on a new facet of photography, but product photography is a subset of studio work (which I generally loathe) and shares quite a bit with macro work (where I lack any skill). Also, the AirPort Extreme I bought arrived from Apple yesterday, but I was so effing tired at the end of last night, I didn't even take it out of the box. This afternoon I'm going to set it up and see if I can suss out how to set it up. Then I have to arrange to return the cock-smoking sheep-raping Netgear WAP to Provantage.

  17. One of my favorite ambient dub albums, even after 15 years. Mat Jarvis's ethereal analogue string patches and minimalist portamento melodies are the stuff of legend. What I'm realizing now, with the advantage of a decade and a half of reflection, is that the song structure of the more beat-oriented tracks is essentially oldskool UK rave, slowed down and spaced out to Biosphere-like levels.

  19. I heart Groove Salad. Even after nearly 20 years of obsessively collecting electronic downtempo, I still consistently find new stuff on there.

  23. . o O I'd rather have a Unimog than any stinking Hummer. Failing that, a Gelandewagen. A 1953 Unimog came up for sale recently. It was serial #25, making it the oldest 404 in the US. I have a friend who's got the skills to work on it, but she (yes, she) is recovering from back surgery and is busy completing a double science major. I couldn't have afforded it anyway, unless I discontinued a few other things (like every other aspect of my life, including eating). I did save a picture of it:
