  1. I've been getting my mid 80s \m/ on. W.A.S.P. - W.A.S.P. (1984) W.A.S.P. - The Last Command (1985) W.A.S.P. - Inside The Electric Circus (1986) The first two are absolute classics of the genre (LA glam metal with just a dash of shock rock from the first half of the 80s.) Blackie Lawless has always been a bit of a clown, but on the first two WASP albums he managed to avoid self parody and had some remarkably consistent songwriting. Chris Holmes and Randy Piper had some great riffs as well. Inside The Electric Circus is a much more uneven affair. There are a more than few duds, but man is "Restless Gypsy" an unknown classic. Listening to it makes me want to comb out my mullet, don my uncomfortably tight high waisted jeans, fire up my Camaro Z28 and tear ass down the 101. I might cue up Live... In The Raw (1987) next. Sadly there's not much after that in the WASP catalog that's worth giving a listen. 80s metal was best before marketing departments got involved and WASP was never that versatile a band to begin with.

  3. Ended up having a very scary day. So a week ago Friday I called my broker and said "I need to pay [big bills]. Pls move [four digit sum of money] to my main bank account." On this past Monday, I wrote some checks, totaling about 2/3 of what I deposited. Then I paid off a few more bills. I noticed that my bank account was still showing the amount pre-deposit, but these transactions sometimes take an extra day to clear. Also, I knew that the checks I wrote on Monday wouldn't be cashed for a day or two. Then I got kind of ill. I have chronic digestive problems, and they acted up big time mid-late week. I actually had a horrible day Friday, but still managed to do a radio show I'm quite proud of, but I digress... That meant I wasn't doing much business for most of the week. Today I went out and did some light grocery shopping. One of the locations I frequent refused my ATM card, but that's not unusual. I have one of the new chip-encrusted cards, which offer greater security by not fucking working at least half the time. I paid my bill with a credit card and got on with my day. At my final stop, once again attempted used my ATM card, for like $40 in food. The cheerful clerk said I aid "insufficient funds." I said "uh oh" and paid with the same credit card. I stopped at the ATM, and instead of (based on my back of the napkin math) having a positive balance in the low four digits, I had a negative balance well into the three digit range. Somewhere along the way, somebody fucked up big time. I'd say most likely me, and it probably is, but in general I'm far better than that at managing money and I don't usually make $2500+ errors. Of course I can't do a single fucking thing about this until business hours on Monday. In between now and then I can ruminate on issues like ...did the transfer no go through? How many checks did I bounce this week? Is my broker drunk on the job? It's a good thing I don't have any hair to tear out.

  8. So funny thing, barely related to video games. When CDPR announced they were delaying Cyberpunk yet again, their stock dropped. It's obviously going to go up. I called my broker (yes, I have one) and explained the situation. He knows fuck-all about video games, but he understood what I was talking about. I said "put be down for X shares!" He said sure. I got call back from him an hour later. Apparently it's impossible for Edward Jones (the firm I use) to buy CDPR stocks, for reasons that are unclear to me. Also I caused a mini drama in the east coast EdJo offices as calls went up and down the power structure as different suits and ties tried to figure out why CDPR is completely restricted from purchase. I think it has something to do with the Polish government.

  10. |m/ Anyone seen the dog? Corona rates in the US. If it's not for sits, why is it made of warm? Possibly the first mixing table, created in 1920 by western electric with model d-86850.

  13. I have been having issues with the App Store not updating things it wants to on and off for a week now. I get this "purchase failed" error when trying to update apps I own. I think Apple broke something on their back end and are only just now fixing it.
