  1. Just to update. The sound is now opening up a bit with super detail.
  2. Redneck translation: Ya diden't knock the crap out of him.
  3. I like to hold them in till it's pretty well built up. Then I like to let it out making vowel and consonent sounds into words with the residual gas pressure.
  4. Just though this might help us to get to know each other better.
  5. SACDMODS DENON 2910 I gave Matt Anker my Denon 2910 to mod at the meet. He is a very nice fellow and is eager to work with you. He does not talk above your level of understanding nor does he insult you by shortchanging you on information. I can do some of this stuff and some I can't. I understand the basic operating premmis on most everything but sometimes get overwhelmed by the details. However Matt will make it simple and understandable for you. I was able to visit "SACDMODS International LLC. INC.". It was the No.2 site in Columbus, Ohio on seventeen sprawling acres of land with more than nineteen buildings and wharehouses. He has his own Gymnasium and football field for his employees. His personal office is small and contains a bed cause he works such long hours he does not have time to go home. His whole office building smells like pizza. All in all he did a splendid job which was very craftsman like, being neatly done. The modifications worked very well and I was pleased that he attended to me personally as opposed to one of his many hundreds of talented staff. Now onto my initial impressions. It was not what I had built myself up to hopeing it could be but was way better than what I feared it would turn out as. That says a lot, don't it? Bottom line is that, indeed it does improve over the stock sound by a very good margine. Personally I feel that the mods put the player at the threshold enterance into the "highend" player room. Now onto nit picking. The sound, IMHO, seems a little cold and dry, more solid stateish in nature. However the pratt is right on. Overall timeing seemed excellent. Detail is very clear and abundant. All this over the stock configuration and parts. Warmth and coziness are lacking. There is no sence into going to any greater detail here as you will understand by the following paragraph. BUT! This should all be a moit point. As expressed in Matt's parting litureature, there is a break-in time. Yes indeed there is. We have seen countless posts here with equiptment, where Black Gate caps were installed and needed up to 500 hours breakin time. With the SACDmods modification, I had a number of 1000uf BlackGates installed in the power supply along with the other items, LC03 clock, Zapfilter 2nd generation w/dedicated powersupply, 750 CFM Holly carborator, twin turbo's, and an adheasive backed, velvet miniture rendition, of the "Bulldogs playing pool" applied to the top of the inside cover for sound deadining. So breakin is going to be needed, and plenty of it. As you can see, I spared no expense with optional parts. Yes, I am concerned about the lack of warmth. Yes, I do think that will clear up with breakin as you do usually have that. Do the mods make this player the ultimate player? No, not by a long shot. But it does make the Denon a surpriseing and very worthy contender. There is still too much work, time and money to transform this player into being the best. And frankly, not worth it. But it is more than worth the mods given, and you will be pleased with the results. Bottom line: YES! I would do it again. And yes it is worth it. And a final YES, to having only SACDMODS do the work, as they are very great at what they do and highly recomended. Thanks; Matt.
  6. 6C33B SOCKETS Parts Connection has the sockets in either silver plate or gold plate. SILVER SOCKET- 59026 $3.95; GOLD SOCKET- 59027 $5.95.
  7. Parts Connection has the sockets in either silver plate or gold plate. SILVER SOCKET- 59026 $3.95; GOLD SOCKET- 59027 $5.95. If you re-read his post he said that he is connecting the tube sockets DIRECTLY to a thick aluminum top plate. It is an all aluminum plate design, bead blasted and anodized, to be exact. My Zana has no aluminum in it. He also refered to the Zana as a PRODUCTION model. My Zana is a PROTOTYPE...... Hint Hint.......Stay tuned folks.
  8. I use it every single day for hours and it has been fine. Not one problem.
  9. He will then be able to open a "Tanning Salon" and listen to fine music at the same time.
  10. Well maybe the tube will be picked up by another ampmaker. I would like to see one made like mine but with tube rectified "Dual Mono" power supplies.

    Skins

Boy oh boy, what a skin this is. It's dark but way cool. I am useing Helios_Multi. And beyond that even, once it is setup you can go to the top of it and change the color highlights, boarders ect. I am in the Red Gray and Black mode. The gray block on the end is really a chrome like silver blue. I will do that next. Yellow was a chrome like gold and cool. The red I am useing is a deep red which looks like gloss paint clear coated.
  12. Sure. Got change for a $10,000 bill? I will print one up for you.
  13. Possible production of new units. I am working on Craig to do a special "limited" run of the full size Zana Duex like I have. This would be for 10 to maybe 15 "hard in the books" commitment of people. He would point to point wire each and do one at a time with the possibility of some very limited assembly line type of thing going on. This amp has to be done by him personally to be correct. A one man operation. If you are last on the list it could be some time. Price is a guess at this point anywhere from $1500 to $1800. He thought he could do them cheaper but probably can't. Disclaimer: I am not an employee or partner of any kind to Eddie Current. I make nothing on this. If you could hear this splended amp then you would know why I am making an effort to see this happen for you guys. Feed back welcome. And yes you can come to my house to hear it. Call in advance. And "no", I will not loan mine out.....Sorry.
  14. I don't want to be an administrator or a moderator of any kind. But I would like to be considered for the position of "Hallroom Monitor", can I pretty please?
  15. Lets see pics of the shirt. How did it sound with Grado's.
  16. I found your review to be very well written. I found the Headroom amps, in general, to be dry and lifeless when I last heard them.
  17. What! We should bring a jar of Vasiline??? Just what are you infering??? Digital Bill will be the only kinky guy there. Will he do?
  18. Hey, EddieRex, is that Avatar a picture of the "Bee Gees"??? :'(
  19. Quote: "hey, i'm pricey, but worth it. you whippernsappers, can't recognize quality when you see it." Better than sheep anyway.
