  1. Just watched Back to the Future. Either I'm too old for it now or it was one time too many.

    Top Gear

I am deeply in love with the new episode. I think I might have to watch it again.... immediately.
  3. Register a solid bah humbug from me too. I was planning on driving to my sister's place south of Nashville but the three days of solid snow that are currently on the forecast prevented me from going. At least the beer bar is open tonight, think I'll go down for a few pints with all the others who are holed up in this town for the holidays.

Watched the new one before work this morning. Not too shabby.
  5. I didn't realize that you guys went to The Refinery. How was it?

    DEXTER

No, she's really not. I really like her character just wish they'd give her more involvement. Would make an excellent next season.

Tonight (as in airing RIGHT NOW), new episode. Will wash the bitter Dexter conclusion out of my mind, unless it somehow ends up sucking which I can't see an American roadtrip doing.

    DEXTER

Precisely the whole season. I was bored by almost the entire thing except those tense moments in the last episode, where it seemed things could change entirely. I mean... Edit:
  9. Hey Hey, Matt read a book! Just finished Slaughterhouse Five. Something I'd read in one sitting in the library one day a long while back and remembered thoroughly enjoying but not much else about it. Figured it was a nice easy way to make sure I would actually finish something other than the odd David Foster Wallace short story collections that have been my sole literary diet for the last several years.
  10. When the fuck did that become a Meme? Awesome.
  11. Screw Fitz, worry about me. This shit hurts.
  12. Slow down kids. The weekend is young.
  13. In all seriousness about the cocktail thing though, if after your Berns dinner you aren't feeling quite ready for big beer at New World, there's a nice dive directly across the street with a bartender who will understand and appreciate your addiction.
  14. I'm guessing it'll still be available at Whole Foods, Al. They usually stock up pretty well on CCB bottles.
  15. You sneaky bastard. I looked at Sideberns website and you know what they really call it? Cocktail hour. Gene, do your worst.
  16. There's a cigar place in Ybor that'll serve your needs brilliantly and give you all those choices until about 1 AM, Grahame. King Corona, easily walkable from New World Brewery and right across the street from the pizza place.
  17. Shall we complicate and extend Friday night by hitting Skipper's and Ybor? If you've all got the constitutions for it, I say yes. Late announced show at New World Brewery in Ybor with The Groves, a newly formed band you won't find much info on but they're jambandy as well, and they have a sexy bass player (she's an old friend). There are three opening bands so these shows run late (Midnight thirty or so). Plenty of time to eat at Skipper's, enjoy the band for an hour or so and then skip down to Ybor, hopefully to find the Bern's crew.
  18. Mema's tacos are deep fried. Nuff said.
  19. Hahaha and that kids is what stealth editing can get you. I'm a douche like that.f EDIT: And it's fracking cold up here. I've got a few low 20's mornings to deal with. Tyll can shut his face on this too, I'm a FL native.
  20. You forgot La Teresita, which is another must see. Honest old Tampa tradition. Go to the 24/7 cafeteria on the west side of the building. not the sit-down joint on the east. Food comes out of the same kitchen. If we make it to Ybor there's also Mema's Alaskan Tacos, a long time favorite of the FLA crew. Also FWIW the best non-gourmet pie in Tampa. Other than that can't think of much. I have plenty more favorites but they are less accessible for whatever reasons. I think that makes a pretty sound list (skip the Five Guys though, unless you've absolutely never had it. In-N-Out still wins.)
  21. Carl, you should consider driving straight to Skipper's if you miss the ride from the hotel. I think I'd asked you before if you'd been, but can't remember your answer. If not, I think you'll love the place. When we went to that dive with the jamband in Lauderdale I instantly recognized how much it was like Skipper's compressed to a strip mall. Same overall quality/structural integrity/vibe, but with a roomy space with a huge tree in the middle.
  22. That second thing was nucking futs.expecially when you notice the first two cars the guy hit.
  23. We don't of course have to call Skipper's on Friday night a done deal. Other than people who definitely aren't going (Berns crew) and Mike, I haven't seen a lot of response to that suggestion. We can of course weigh options on Friday, with our DD"s like Grahame and Alex getting extra say. Mike, wrong band, I think you're looking at the wrong date. Friday the 10th is Elliott Cohn's Cosmic Sweat Society.

    Top Gear

New episode of the US version turned me off completely. Somehow I enjoyed the first episode but there are some serious issues to work out. However, "Good News!". Real top gear is back on the 21st, and on the 26th we get a big road trip episode where they recreate the journey of the three wise men across the middle east in beaters. 25. Gene, you said you'd talked to the folks at Cigar City and they'd promised a keg of Seabass for us next weekend? Should I drop the tasting room manager an email and ask for special consideration in adding that and maybe even another special keg for this weekend? Something like 15-18 solid beer drinkers staying next door should get some special treatment(s).
