Oops, you're right. I guess Bench something or other would have to be close enough.

I find the RS-1 and HF-2 to be quite different. For me, listening to the RS-1 is akin to having hot needles repeatedly stuck into my ear drums. The HF-2 is much more like the old HP-1000 series. It's very balanced and only slightly warm. I prefer it to the new PS-1000, which to me has way too much bass. At the HF-2's price, it's quite a deal IMO. However, I did get an HD800 too.

I really liked the music listening to HeadRoom's balanced HD 800 and their Ultra stack. So this looks like a good purchase to me. If I needed a DAC, I'd call dibs on it.

Except the one of me, of course. I just don't know why they all come out like that.

I was tempted to show the Benchmark table my Benchmark product, which I bought on Peter's recommendation. They probably wouldn't have been amused when I showed them my Benchmark Mini-griptilian knife.

I kept finding it hard to believe that anybody would be so pretentious as to ride a Segway at a meet. So I did just a little checking on Noel Lee (CEO Monster Cables) using google. It turns out that he has a degenerative nerve disease and has trouble walking. Here is the URL. So from now on I'll not bash Mr. Lee for riding a Segway. I'll continue to bash Monster Cables, however.

That's hard to say and probably varies with different pieces of equipment. I don't mind spending more if I really feel I'm getting something for it, but like to find "bargain" pieces. For example, my main source is an eXemplar modded Denon 2900 with full mods. I bought it used from jpnums and then had it modded to full level. As a result, I have $1900 into it. For Redbook reproduction, it rivals $5K and higher. I've heard better front ends, but they were way more than I wanted to spend. For amplifiers, I have one main one that I've sunk about $3k into. I really like it and am in no hurry to upgrade. Part of the problem here is that my amp is a Singlepower and now has very little resale value. For headphones, I just bought both the HF2 and HD800. I thought that both were good buys for the money. I also have a Grado HP2 and Headphile modded AKG K340. I may keep all four or some may go. It depends on what I end up listening to.

There are many points of diminishing returns. Each person's point is different than everybody else. It depends mostly on one's ear, taste and financial means. My main point though is that there is no universal point of diminishing returns, it's totally subjective.

I'd rewrite your first sentence as "Markl's integrity is broken", but I'm just guessing. Otherwise I agree completely with your post.
