That's a lot of ifs. If the odds of each happening are say 80%, the odds of all of them happening is 33%. If you need all of them to be happy, you'll probably not get it. For me, it's a no brainer already. I use a minimal portable rig (iPod + PK2) and have no need for anything with a DAC, amp, etc. For some people, this is the answer to their dreams. Maybe the latter is a large enough market segment for this to make a go.

I was going to joke that I couldn't afford the upgrade to Bluejeans optical digital cables. Then I checked the price and see that a 6' cable is 8x the cost of the equivalent Monoprice cable. That's not funny. On the plus side for BJ cables, they are currently having a sale on HDMI cables. Their price beats Monoprice by $4 or so.

Latest update. I tried the "Premium" cable with the PS3 that we bought. It won't latch there either. I just ordered two 6' cheapo cables from Monoprice, one to hook the PS3 to the cheapo Monoprice optical switch and one to connect the switch to the THX receiver. No more "Premium" cables for me. I'll take the one I have to the next meet and try to give it away.
