  1. Of course, Schubert was a contemporary of Beethoven rather than pre-Beethoven. Good music though.
  2. Not bad. Shouldn't that be "deafening silence"?
  3. Come on. We want to hear your best ipodpj version of how they sound. The fanboys will be thicker around these than with the gd-audio Phoenix.
  4. Great pictures! One of my bigger regrets when I lived in France (for 20 months in the mid-80's) was not getting out to the Alsace region. These pictures remind me that I still need to do that.
  5. Could it be due to the smiley at the end of the attack? I mean how could you possibly even think of banning eugenius after all that he's contributed to HC?
  6. I understand that. And yes, I pretty much missed all 3am conversations at CanJam. I'll go away now so you guys can figure it out.
  7. I agree with everything you said except the bolded phrase. I don't understand using a generalization to try to explain why another generalization isn't valid.

What clinched the deal for the Russians is that Mbeke Jones, first secretary to the Nigerian Finance Minister, offered to pay them with a certified check for $2bn more than the agreed upon price. Russia only has to return $1bn in change from the check. They get to keep the remainder.
  9. Happy Birthday!
  10. I hear that it sounds moar killer when sprinkled with JMFD (Jena Magic Fairy Dust), which is made from a propriety combination of ground Unicorn horn and Dragon's teeth. On a serious note, how does the Cardas Tri-eutectic solder compare with the quad for ease of use? I'd prefer to delete the lead.
  11. Happy Birthday Justin!
  12. mbriant, saving the world from the evils of Head-Case.
  13. Happy Birthday Julian. Hope you have a great one.
  14. From Monoprice: 2 non-premium 6' optical digital cables 2 3' RCA interconnects
  15. Those look good to me. If I needed HDMI cables, I'd order those.
  16. Yes, if it doesn't meet the USB spec, it's not a USB cable. That product easily could have come out of Singlepower instead of ALO.
  17. He was wild about the DNA amps on the last day of CanJam. I thought that he'd get one of those. I guess the difference in $$$ came into play.
  18. That's a lot of ifs. If the odds of each happening are say 80%, the odds of all of them happening is 33%. If you need all of them to be happy, you'll probably not get it. For me, it's a no brainer already. I use a minimal portable rig (iPod + PK2) and have no need for anything with a DAC, amp, etc. For some people, this is the answer to their dreams. Maybe the latter is a large enough market segment for this to make a go.
  19. You mean that you didn't leave her in OZ?
  20. I was going to joke that I couldn't afford the upgrade to Bluejeans optical digital cables. Then I checked the price and see that a 6' cable is 8x the cost of the equivalent Monoprice cable. That's not funny. On the plus side for BJ cables, they are currently having a sale on HDMI cables. Their price beats Monoprice by $4 or so.
  21. Latest update. I tried the "Premium" cable with the PS3 that we bought. It won't latch there either. I just ordered two 6' cheapo cables from Monoprice, one to hook the PS3 to the cheapo Monoprice optical switch and one to connect the switch to the THX receiver. No more "Premium" cables for me. I'll take the one I have to the next meet and try to give it away.
  22. Here's my idea of a reasonably priced HDMI cable.
  23. Nate, what would it cost for a custom template to drill out the tube socket holes so that better sockets could be used? Or is a template not the way to go for this?
  24. And probably still not make a detectable change to the sound. I'll have to do a little experiment when I have time.
  25. Not Icarium but I have a Headfive. It's not bad but I'd rather have a Gilmore Lite. I've heard the Opera several times and it is really thin. I really like Jan but not so much his amps.
