    CanJam 2009

I'm jealous guys, this is shaping up to be a killer event. Hoping for an East Coast venue next year.
  2. I didn't notice a huge difference in soundstage between Stax amps and KGSS, but the soundstage of the SR-007 never really impressed me to begin with. I wish I could have tried the KGSS with any of the Lambda phones, those are probably my favorites when it comes to airy and large presentation (never heard the Sigmas). On the other hand, the KGSS offered substantial improvements in instrument placement and in creating a realistic presentation. The presentation with Stax amps was less focused from what I remember. O2/KGSS with symphonic music was godly.
  3. It's hard to say really, I heard the 007t in a small meet at Larryminator's place a couple of months after I sold you the T1S . The only thing I could say is that both drove the SR-007 more on the polite and light side of things, while the KGSS DX added more body and weight to the sound and gave more punch to the bass.
  4. I've heard that combination and there's nothing wrong with it as far as I'm concerned. Some Stax extremists make it sound like it's a total mismatch, but I thought the sound was very pleasant. Sure, there are better amps out there, but one could stop his quest with this combo and be totally happy.

  6. My condolences. War veterans are honorable men and deserve high respect, I'll raise a glass for him tonight.
  7. Happy birthday!
  8. Shit, that sucks. You must have the worst luck ever. I'm pretty happy that my new pair doesn't squeal. I don't have anything other than the Koss amp right now though, so I can't validate faust2d observations, but from what I remember, when I had the KGSS and SRD-7Mk2, the squeal was present no matter which amp was used. The ESP950 are surely not plug and play headphones... It's almost necessary to recable them and buy another amp and apparently they are not built well. In the end, I enjoy these cans quite a bit so I'm keeping them, but they're not "user-friendly" if such a thing can be said about headphones.

  10. There you go, the fugliest of all Stax: (this is not me, btw)
  11. HEREZ AN AURICAP FOR YOUR BIRTHDAIZ!!!!1111!!!11
  12. I hope they're going to make some substancial improvements over 10.5 because they're not going to get my 100$ if it's just a slightly tweaked and improved Leopard like what's been said. Some things I'd like: - Make Spaces usable: like Linux multiple desktops basically - Improve Finder: the fact that you still can't cut and paste is beyond me - Native FLAC support in iTunes: not OS-related, but what the hell are they waiting for? - More advanced Spotlight: I'll still use Quicksilver anyway, but it'd be nice if Apple could borrow some inspiration from it.

  14. My first round predictions were pretty off, here's a new try: Bruins in 6 Caps in 7 Wings in 5 Canucks in 7
  15. Huh, what?
  16. Nice! While we're into bags, I bought a Vaude 55L bag this week for my summer Euro trip:

  19. Agreed, it wasn't a late check even though he could have changed direction, but my main problem is the fact that he finished the check with his arms in a nasty way instead of just a solid body check. Again, it's not worth five games compared to some really cheap shots in the past (Bertuzzi, McSorley, etc.), but I think Brashear went over the top on that one.
  20. Five games is too much in the playoffs, but Brashear's hit was totally uncalled for and far from legal as far as I'm concerned. The Rangers guy got a fracture, so I think a game or two of suspension would have been fair. I'm not one of those guys who think hockey is too violent and in fact I usually love and respect good ol' Donald Brashear, but this was a cheap shot from my perspective.
  21. Perhaps with a pinch of postjackian humor.
  22. Happy birthday!
  23. I had no trouble sending my ESP950 to their US factory and getting it back to Canada for a total of 7$ + shipping.
  24. Wow, you must have some huge ears. As for the E90, it can be fun to try, but I wouldn't bother buying a wall-wart if you don't have one, the performance of the T1S is simply superior. Welcome to the very select club of ESP950 owners.
