  1. Oh, dear. I use the opto servo on my Carbon, and when warmed-up, the offset hovers between 1.5-1.6V. Both channels. Wondering if I should worry about it... I've been using it for months now.
  2. I was under the impression that balance and offset of +/-20V are within spec for an electrostatic headphone amp... why worry about +/-1.5V, let alone +/-50mV? Not that I discourage overkill perfectionism.
  3. My boards came in yesterday. Thanks for the group buy!
  4. My Carbon runs slightly warm to the touch. 20mA, but with pretty large heatsinks and plenty of ventilation in the top panel. It's much, much cooler than the on-board-heatsink KGSSHV and KGST I built before.
  5. Shipping balance sent. Thank you!
  6. Anyone have any views on recent HD800 mods? I heard a few modded versions at a meet a couple of years ago and hated them. The mods reduced treble, yes, but they also muddied the mids and neutered the bass. Curious about the more recent iterations, especially since the 800S seems to just incorporate a mod (and throw in a balanced cable).
  7. Wonderful work. I'm interested, too!
  8. I'll pass on the PSU boards.
  9. Interesting. Got any more info? PS: I have a Gungnir Multibit I might be talked into lending to you and Kevin for experiments (though it'd be nice to get it back in one piece eventually)...
  10. I'm potentially interested in two sets of split GRHV sets, depending on the price. Would prefer to pay $30 or less per set.
  11. I expect a GRHV to work nicely... not sure about the output voltage or transformer specs.
  12. Does this mean you'll get rid of the MSB? Also, what's wrong with the volume control on the Carbon?
  13. Payment sent.
  14. I'll take two sets. Do you want just the money for the boards sent to you now, and the shipping later, or do you already know how much you'll need to charge for shipping?
  15. Following @luvdunhill'a formula (which he posted here before), I use ~3A fuses on all my stat amps (including a Carbon; NA voltage), never had any problems with inrush current. No lights dimming either — I have more trouble with commercial microwave ovens. I seem to recall Birgir confirming on the KGSSHV thread (or maybe the KGST one) that he does not use thermistors. I'm sure it's a different story with something that draws way more currenrt, like a Circlotron.
  16. @cspirou: I must be blind, or the mobile view doesn't work. Which column in the spreadsheet is the VAT total I owe you?
  17. Balance sent. The correct shipping address is in the PayPal note.
  18. Audirvana 2.6.4 seems to work with the Tidal "master" recordings today. Not sure if that means Audirvana already supports MQA or if the files aren't actually MQA.
  19. These tracks seem to play just fine (showing up as anything from 24/48 to 24/96 on the ones I tried) through Audirvana's Tidal integration. Not sure what this means exactly, since I don't know if Audirvana supports MQA natively or if these "masters" are plain old FLAC under the hood.
  20. I'm looking at the TKDs from the GB and comparing them to the last 10k one I had from when I bought them in Japan myself. My old one has a different marking on the right side (looking directly at the shaft): A10KΩ. The GB ones just say 10KΩ. Should I be concerned these aren't logarithmic audio taper?
  21. Have you dissected an HEV90?
  22. @luvdunhill: Those Milstein and Richter releases are among my favorite recordings of all time. Sooo good.
  23. Some virtuoso piano playing to help my afternoon along:
  24. I'm intrigued by this design. Have to think about how to absolutely minimize chassis size with some small external heatsinks, and maybe use split GRHV PSU boards (not that there's anything wrong with the mini-BH, and it might win out for me in the end). (Not that I need to make yet another electrostatic amplifier...)
