Coffee Drinkers? (or other hot beverages)
From the Coffee Beanery....I have tried none of this, for the record. HS What is Flavored Coffee? Flavored coffee is made by infusing coffee beans with additional flavors to enhance the taste and aroma of the beverage. There are several methods used to create flavored coffee, and here are a few of the common ones: 1. Flavoring during roasting: One method involves adding flavoring agents to the coffee beans during the roasting process. This can be done by applying liquid flavorings or sprays onto the beans before they are roasted. As the beans roast, the flavors penetrate the surface and become absorbed, resulting in flavored coffee. 2. Flavoring after roasting: Another approach is to flavor the coffee beans after they have been roasted. This is typically achieved by using flavored oils or extracts. The roasted beans are mixed or coated with these oils, allowing the flavors to adhere to the surface. The coffee beans are then left to dry, enabling the flavors to be absorbed. 3. Natural flavoring: Some flavored coffees use natural ingredients to add flavor. For example, whole spices, such as cinnamon, vanilla beans, or cocoa nibs, may be added to the coffee beans during the roasting process. As the coffee beans roast, they absorb the natural flavors, resulting in a subtly flavored coffee. 4. Flavored syrups: Flavored syrups are also commonly used to add flavor to coffee. These syrups come in various flavors such as vanilla, caramel, hazelnut, or chocolate. They are added directly to brewed coffee as a sweetener and flavor enhancer, allowing the coffee drinker to customize their beverage according to their preferences.

The Mucky Duck....#WINNING! I haven't been in soooo long. We got to see The English Beat (label in the U.S.) with General Public at the Bayou Music Center last weekend. I have to say Dave Wakeling is still jamming well. The two bands put on a great show IMHO. Adam Ant....well, let's just say he has a good band. The percussion section was impressive. HS

I very much like the idea of the GTS's. Hoping I get a shot at a 911 GTS one day, but I doubt it...LOL. The only thing I'm not a big fan of, aside from the always scary in Houston low stance (front axel lift FTW) is that most the GTS's I see have the center lock wheels. I don't find them practical at all. 443ft lb target... Even with the right kit, that's a lot of cranking down on something at the track should you need to swap tires/wheels. I'd order w/o those, personally. HS

You are spot on, swt61. It's a 718 and the hardtop is a Cayman and the convertible is the Boxster. I'm a sucker for a coupe, personally, but nothing wrong with open air sporting... I've seen the Boxsters kick ass at my home road course. The six cylinder is awesome but I drove the turbo four and it's perfectly good. Just a bit higher pitched and what goes with that. HS

Late lunch at Field & Tides. Fried oyster brussel sprouts, a crab salad jobbie, and redfish. Great little joint if you're ever in Houston. HS

I always find something interesting...usually too many...at the Texas Mile. This one really caught my eye. It's a real deal (edit: superbird...it's a plymouth) and they had done a lot of fabrications work to get it to this point. Certainly not the fastest, but listening to the owner and builders love for it was really cool. And, big arse waaaaang, as my buddy would say. Not my thing but pretty nifty... HS

I recall being a boy and enamored with Jacqueline Bisset in The Deep. Lou did a great job of being the bad guy... HS

We visited a local restaurant, Eau Tour, that I have been wanting to go to for a while. Unfortunately I didn't take a pic of the better halves' red snapper...it was the best cooked fish I have had in a long while. The duck confit looks rather drab but the sauce was amazing and the side was a grilled lettuce or cabbage layered like lasagna with delumpcious cheesy stuffs... Thumbs up to this joint if you find yourself in Houston. HS

I'm shopping for a new "full size" scale. Very pleased with the small Acaia Lunar that was an incentive to purchase my espresso maker a few years ago. I tried replacing my Amazon scale of 10 years with another and it drifts...not bad but I'm over it. Looking at the Acaia Pearl. Looks like plenty of scale for my needs (i.e. think pour over in a Chemex). I'm struggling to understand whether the Acaia Pearl S is worth the add'l cost, and I'm thinking it's not worth the delta. https://acaia.co/collections/coffee-scales Thoughts? Thanks in advance! HS

My beloved 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk was stolen from the airport parking lot in Dec 2022 while vacationing. They stopped production in 2021 so a new one was not on the books. I found a 2018 in the same color combo, but it was misrepresented...not clean enough for me to love it and it being a first year model it wasn't as good as later production. It will be sold before long. Finally found a 2021 of very low mileage...literally smells brand new. Only problem is the first owner ticked the box for the gloss black hood and roof. The roof I can't really see and it blends into the windshield so I chose to leave it alone. I did have a white pearl wrap affixed to the hood...I'm finally happy enough to kick off the power modifications. Pleased as punch I finally found a daily I can love again...and beat on...LOL. HS

It is hard to beat a ribeye as a cut of steak....yummy chow! I tried sous vide on them a few times and finishing up over a very high flame or in an iron skillet, but IMHO the cut is so delicious it's not worth the climb vs simply cooking them... HS
