Well, no good updates. They did a craniotomy (?) and now have a bit more room to work with and an easy access titanium plate. My dad was on plavix and some sort of membrane formed on the brain that the surgeon is not wanting to strip, two minor complications I suppose. Waiting until tomorrow for another scan to assess progress. Thanks for the good wishes all. I am hoping everyone around here will sleep tonite
Well, they are going to have to go in the morning a second time, he's still bleeding. Torpedo, I'd guess the injury was like 5 weeks ago. His blood pressure was unstable and they rushed him to another scan but didn't see that anything changed. More waiting.
Well, so far so good. Yea, it was a subdermal hematoma. The surgeon said in was a couple inches (?) and once they tapped it it shot out like 6'. The surgeon said that he had not seen that much pressure ever and that it's a good sign that the brain will quickly expand back into the space. I guess we will know more in the morning. It's been about 3 weeks after the fall. Good thing he didn't have to get this done in the DPRK though
My dad just went to the OR for a blood clot in his brain which seemed to result from a fall he had recently while in North Korea. The wait begins, but I'm very hopeful that it is indeed a routine procedure...
It's very different than any Calvados I've had. It's very good, but it's its own beast. Very complex, has an apple nose but the finish is a date flavor with a mild burn. Maybe I'd describe it as the Lagavulin of calvados.
Well, someone had to do it:
Bensonhurst
1¾ shot / 50 ml / 1¾ oz rye whiskey
⅔ shot / 20 ml / ⅔ oz dry vermouth (Blanc)
1 bar-spoon maraschino
1 bar-spoon Cynar
Stir over ice then strain in to a cocktail glass. Garnish with a large twist of orange zest (oops!)
I have a 5 bedroom place. About 15 minutes from the track.
If you guys are serious, I'd host a meet. I'd ask perhaps to put up my wife and kids in a hotel, depending on the festivities envisioned. My place is about 3000 sq ft, lots of room for all.
Today was insane. I made the mistake of promising to clean out the garage this weekend. I basically had to take a break every hour and drink a half gallon of water. Also, tomorrow is the first day of moving to the new HP building and last week involved packing up the old office. That was insane too. Yeah, way too hot.
