  1. Well, they are going to have to go in the morning a second time, he's still bleeding. Torpedo, I'd guess the injury was like 5 weeks ago. His blood pressure was unstable and they rushed him to another scan but didn't see that anything changed. More waiting.
  2. Vya, Dolin, Punt e Mes, Cocchi Torino and Carpano Antica are all suitable. I like the Torino.
  3. Well, so far so good. Yea, it was a subdermal hematoma. The surgeon said in was a couple inches (?) and once they tapped it it shot out like 6'. The surgeon said that he had not seen that much pressure ever and that it's a good sign that the brain will quickly expand back into the space. I guess we will know more in the morning. It's been about 3 weeks after the fall. Good thing he didn't have to get this done in the DPRK though
  4. My dad just went to the OR for a blood clot in his brain which seemed to result from a fall he had recently while in North Korea. The wait begins, but I'm very hopeful that it is indeed a routine procedure...
  5. It won't be long now until your pouring cocktails!
  6. It's a strong vermouth, like Carpano. I think in fact it's better though.
  7. Campari-Cocchi Torino-Gale Force Negroni Man, this is good.
  8. 3:2:2 Campari, gin, Cocchi Americano
  9. Hitachi doesn't make these devices anymore, I would doubt that they would care at all.
  10. It's very different than any Calvados I've had. It's very good, but it's its own beast. Very complex, has an apple nose but the finish is a date flavor with a mild burn. Maybe I'd describe it as the Lagavulin of calvados.
  11. GR apple brandy
  12. Start a thread, wife approval has been obtained.
  13. Well, someone had to do it: Bensonhurst 1¾ shot / 50 ml / 1¾ oz rye whiskey ⅔ shot / 20 ml / ⅔ oz dry vermouth (Blanc) 1 bar-spoon maraschino 1 bar-spoon Cynar Stir over ice then strain in to a cocktail glass. Garnish with a large twist of orange zest (oops!)
  14. I have a 5 bedroom place. About 15 minutes from the track. If you guys are serious, I'd host a meet. I'd ask perhaps to put up my wife and kids in a hotel, depending on the festivities envisioned. My place is about 3000 sq ft, lots of room for all.
  15. Yeah, the test is simple. If you bought them on Ebay, they are fake.
  16. Agreed, down with direct drive! I have the same table and think it is the best combo under whatever a used Space Deck sells for.
  17. Um, Flamingo Breakfast Buffet?
  18. Gale Force Gin, Dolin Rouge, and Campari Negroni
  19. Ragged Company - 2 oz Bourbon - 1/2 oz Sweet Vermouth - 1/2 oz Benedictine - 2 dashes Bitters - Garnish: Lemon Twist - Glassware: Cocktail Glass
  20. Bourbon Sazerac Wimped out on doing a Blue Blazer
  21. Today was insane. I made the mistake of promising to clean out the garage this weekend. I basically had to take a break every hour and drink a half gallon of water. Also, tomorrow is the first day of moving to the new HP building and last week involved packing up the old office. That was insane too. Yeah, way too hot.
  22. Dixie Whisky Cocktail (6 People) Savoy To 2 lumps of sugar (Dash Cane Syrup) add a small teaspoon of Angostura Bitters (Nice Dash of Boker's), another of Lemon Juice (Dash Lemon Juice), 4 glasses of Whisky (2 1/4 oz Russell's Reserve Bourbon), a small teaspoonful of Curacao (barely a dash of Dash Creole Shrubb) and 2 teaspoonsful of Crème de Menthe (Dash Brizard White Crème de Menthe). Add plenty of ice and shake carefully. Serve.
  23. Dinah Cocktail (Savoy, modified) First put 2 or 3 sprigs of fresh mint (1 sprig) in the shaker and bruise them lightly against the sides of the shaker by stirring with a silver spoon. Pour into the shaker 3 glasses of Whisky (3 oz Russell's Reserve 10 Bourbon) and let it stand for some minutes. Add 3 glasses of sweetened Lemon Juice (Juice 1/2 Lemon, 1 teaspoon Caster Sugar) and some (cracked) ice. Shake very carefully and for longer than usual. Serve with a mint leaf standing in each glass.
