  1. I had misread your post, sorry about that.
  2. The Hi-Beat GMT (especially the limited version in green) would be my choice, of any GS, I think. Are the three watches you posted pictures of, Chris, the same case size? If so, I'd go with the black dial and the black rotating bezel. If those are larger than the white dial, plain bezel watch, then I might go for the white dialed GMT. 42mm is about as large as I like, even with my big wrist. Let me also present a slight alternative, if you can find one at a discount: The SBGE015.
  3. Get the Seiko. You have my permission.
  4. I think you might be onto something. I wouldn't mind having a 1950 3-Day. This is an in-house movement, if it matters to you, Chris. I might actually prefer it to the Pelagos, but I've owned Tudor, and have never owned Panerai. By the way, Chris, how do you keep from pulling the antenna on your Emergency? I'd have that sucker out, and thus I'd be heavily fined and/or arrested, the first time I wore it when having one too many drinks.
  5. I can get it repaired, sure. Laser welding and polish. They don't look that bad, and I'd rather put the money towards HREs (or put it towards a new car).
  6. Gotcha. The Pelagos is a sweet, sweet watch. The blue is gorgeous.
  7. it's a Tudor/Rolex nerd thing with text colors on the dial, and the fact that you are unlikely to run into somebody else wearing one. if you mean "work" as in "dressier watch for work," and you want complications, this is a no-brainer, for me. I personally wouldn't get a Master Calendar, as overtime I looked at the watch, I would be sad that it isn't the Perpetual.
  8. Well, Nomos and the Grand Seiko are pretty different watches. Are you looking for a sport/tool watch or a dressier watch? If you want a Tool watch, I'd have a hard time not getting the LHD Tudor Pelagos.
  9. Is she going to go SCUBA diving with it?
  10. Chanel isn't terribly priced, actually. I don't think it is the case with that particular watch that you linked, but many Chanel watches now use in-house movements, which is a nice touch. I believe that the particular J12 you have pictured is 41mm in diameter, by the way, which is rather large. What Cartier are you looking at?
  11. it's not an album I listen to a lot, but it's a great line up, and fun (keep in mind that I love Sam River's Crystals).
  12. Ginger gives me heartburn. I wish I could eat more of it, because I love ginger. I drink a Moscow Mule at my own peril. Perhaps protein/(s) that give you trouble are denatured by the acidity, but aren't denatured by the temperatures usually applied.
  13. I'll have to make that. I have no qualms consuming oyster sauce.
  14. Everything looks great, but that bok choy looks delightful!
  15. Hey, now you don't have to worry about it. On those wheels, anyway. I'm assuming your wheels are painted. Mine are bare, polished aluminum. I can't even really touch them up.
  16. Yeah. I've tried making my own, and it was a disaster. Sun is good. Also less than half the price at the local Asian supermarket than they are on Amazon.
  17. The Chanel "boyfriend watch" is very nice. Skip Chopard. Look at Hermes and Jaeger-LeCoultre.
  18. Hence why I said "In a year, when it doesn't make as much point to have every single speaker produced earmarked for a new product, the situation will change, because the value balance will shift."
  19. They aren't equipped to deal with it, because they don't want to be. Apple does very little on whim. I would say that "we will send you a brand new one, post-haste" is going to make most people pretty happy.
  20. Also, keep in mind that replacing the speaker represents a technician not using that time to repair an iPhone, a product with both a much higher revenue yield, and a much higher breakage potential.
  21. Just a strong understanding of computer repair logistics and part pipelines, and a strong understanding of the way Apple does business at the retail level. If it were cheaper for them to have parts and do the repair, at this point in the product's life span, they would have had the parts, and would have done the repair. In a year, when it doesn't make as much point to have every single speaker produced earmarked for a new product, the situation will change, because the value balance will shift. Apple believes very strongly in "just in time," and sometimes "just in time" means "not at all; here have a new one."
  22. That is so not why they are sending you a new computer. They have studied it out, and it is cheaper for them to get you a new machine, then repair it and put the old one into the refurb store, than it is to have a technician take the whole thing apart, on site, and replace the speaker.
  23. Well that's too bad. Check Prestige Time and True Facet. They likely won't have as low a price.
