For those of you who didn't hear the Steven Hawking "Yo Mama" joke on Van Jam.

  11. Are you suggesting Audiophools are suggestible?
  12. Thanks to a co-worker, discovered that if you nuke a leftover post Van Jam Brownie Bite for a minute, rather than the recommended ~10 seconds, it will in fact ignite, produce copious amounts of thick smoke, smell up the A/C system in the building ("whats that burning smell?"), and fail to be put out by a glass of water. Way to bring on the Van Jam flash-backs

  14. Pah, what self respecting USB cable doesn't have a built in LED. How will the electrons know where to flow, if their path is not illuminated? Amazon.com: Monster Game Ultimate Performance USB Cable with Powerflow Indicator: Electronics (the customer review is a classic )
  15. Took part in Van Jam Part Deux, the drive back from LA, wherein The Van tried to kill again. Al thwarted The Van by means of a High-Tech device also known as A Stick. Now back to life, back to reality with visions of HD 800's dancing in my head.

  18. Why not go all integrated? AVI - ADM9.1 active louspeakers
  19. I decided to cover all the bases, no adaptors == simplest signal path. I'm with you that the 4 pin XLR is the most logical connector, but since when has logic applied to this hobby
  20. Sat on the deck today, getting to grips with my Hakko 936, re-terminating some stock 650 cables with switchcraft hardware, and heatshrink tubing from my local electronics store. I think I have all possibilities covered for Can Jam. How do you guys get the cables to bend to your will? You have my sympathies. Radio Kate Bush on Pandora on the Boom, and another Peet's Iced Mocha No-Whip helped .
  21. Why not just make 10 coats shiny-er?
  22. " Audio editor packages such as Wavelab already offer 'audio file comparer' functions that simply subtract one file from another. This is handy for checking that two files are identical (to see if S/PDIF I/O is bit-transparent, for instance, or that the bypass button on a plug-in really does what it claims), but Audio Diffmaker's Extract function is far more sophisticated. When evaluating analogue gear it can also compensate for tiny audio-interface sample-rate drift between the 'before' and 'after' recordings, or gain changes due to different cables or gear warm-up, so you only hear more subtle modifications. Still, for best results you should warm up analogue gear for several hours before starting test runs." from Happy Birthday Vista: How Was It For You?
