I hate to say it but I dont think its likely much quieter than the cheap remaster on Amazon. I'll have to go back and forth to be sure since every album is so different with this preamp. It may be a bit richer though, I'll know more as I compare this week. SHMs are hit or miss, but when they get it right its totally worth the gamble.i remember reading in car audio forums back in the day, people putting the gas station vacuum to the side of their (empty) MDF sub boxes and having a piece of paper follow it on the other side. this is kinda sorta thatlooks like i missed one. happy super late birthdayi have this and have been meaning to read it. total tangent, but this is maybe the best feeling physical book i have. the texture and density of the paper, the way the cover folds out (its orange on the inside of the cover, becomes 4 pages wide). it's art. it feels so amazing in the hand. i can totally picture my professors spending an entire class talking about this back at UMBC.it looks like the mackie big knob, on an amp. the mackie thing supposedly gives excellent control over the continuous gain. i guess i don't see the problem.i know it isn't the same without the driver, but someone needs to make an open source version of this box http://www.voxativ.com/en/loudspeakers/ampeggio-due-2/ it could be done with two hundred bucks worth of wood. i think. plexi version which shows the simplicity of recreating the design. http://www.voxativ.com/en/loudspeakers/acrylic-due/Happy BirthdayHappy Birthday^^ there was a blurb i read somewhere that claimed the shm cds were less hot, probably from the master tapes. i ordered what if and night of the living dregs shms. will report back. the cheap remaster cds are definitely hot. i think those are the only shms they did.i have no idea what i did today. the music started late morning and here i am. there was some laundry and vacuuming in there somewhere i think.
