  1. How much were those ECR-500s? I've been tempted a few times when they appear on the bay but never brave enough to plump down the cash.
  2. That PSU is starting to look *very* expensive already and we haven't even got to the amp section yet Total part cost guesstimation?
  3. I've got the SA-XR25 for mine. Nice little receiver.
  4. more lefties!

I haven't heard that particular album but I have plenty where they do all they can to make it sound crappy. A lot of tracks I hear I've wondered whether my phones were failing because they add so much of the shit we spend thousands trying to eliminate. Shit, a good portion of music has crackly crap added to sound like a scratched old record etc. It's largely intentional but also annoying as it adds nothing to the tracks but constantly has me worried my old vintage 'stats are buzzing or arcing. Pricks.
  8. Where do you put the ink
  9. I picked up some gorgeous Bolivian Rosewood to revamp my Lambdas. Hopefully I won't make a complete mess of it because it's a beautiful piece of wood. I'm going to angle the drivers and felt/mesh the back with the rosewood trim. If it works out as I envision it, they will be the sexiest Lambdas EVAR!! I need to find some nice wire mesh, preferably black, any suggestions? Either steel or plastic would do as long as its decent stuff. I haven't been able to find exactly what I'm looking for.
  10. Oh, too good for plain old turps now are we? I dunno, he buys some spiffy speaker rig and thinks he's the dogs dinner...
  11. Do what Reks does, have a couple of glasses of the good stuff, then switch to turpentine.

This is from a set of really cool global illumination CGI pics.
  13. Chisels, wood and sticky tape. Weekend woodturning here I come!
  14. The SR-L is probly technically and sonically inferior to their pro bias brethren in a number of respects but there's a lot to be said for just sounding nice irrespective of other considerations.
  15. Nice writeup milky, it'll be interesting to see which way you go. I agree that the SR-Lambda doesn't suffer much from the infamous etch. I imagine many will prefer the original for that very reason, it's nicely balanced though still a little bright. I like mine a lot, but I;m still gonna screw with them because, well, that's just what I always do
  16. Looks like it needs industrial casters fitted for mobility It's going to be fun watching the progress of this beastie.
  17. I heard tell there were some versions even bassier than the bassy version! Was I misinformed?
  18. I've only heard the bassy version of the 770 once and I have to say, there was indeed a shitload of bass there. Quite impressive quantities, prodigious in point of fact. I wasn't sure if I liked it or not. Certainly much more bass than my usual fare and more than any other can at the meet. It was a short listen, but damn!
  19. It's not even a cuss. It just means disinterested and don't care. It was still used when I was a kid back in Blighty.
  20. Bleh to convention and group thinking, go with what you enjoy. I have sonic preferences a good many here disagree with but so what? I don't care, they don't care, it's called preference and has nothing to do with being deaf or wrong. I like what I like and couldn't give a tinkers cuss what anyone elses opinions of them are. Having your own mind and deciding for yourself is a great thing.
  21. I was just speaking in the spirit of the original post
  22. Because he's mad as a fucking hatter! Either that or he's not telling us something. I thought you hated Rudis.
  23. Good review aerius, sounds like it's a great little amp. I love the looks too from what I can see. Do you think you might get one at some stage? Spritzer, I don't know if you bought any of those little ortho drivers off ebay recently but they are really easy to drive. I tried them directly from my UMPC and Rio Karma and they did a sterling job. I also have the ASL UHC headphone transformer which can pump out massive levels into just about any phone load from my power amps. Just a thought.
  24. Considering how easy it is to get along in here it must take quite some effort to fuck it up so badly. Your score card right now: *A* for effort. *F -* for Epic Fail. No graduation cap and robe for you. We're not completely heartless, so as a consolation you get this nice pointy hat with a bid D on it. Now, please go sit in the corner for a while.
  25. I've flirted briefly with the L3000 and your girls cousin, the HP-2 and frankly I prefer the cousin. I found Ms L3000 to be a little unexciting and, well, rather plain. Yes she has big cups and is nicely put together, very presentable but not as exotic as I'd like for a bit on the side. Don't get me wrong, I certainly wouldn't kick her out of bed. She's looker, and, for all I know, goes like a bunny with with the right bits inserted. We're not that close though. I do know she's high maintenance though and gets picky about who she hangs out with. Old Grado. A bit skanky in places, that bit older and more mature. She knows a trick or two and will go for it at the drop of a hat. Has few inhibitions and is not so sleek. Like you say, she's reliable, dependable and plays well with others. She has a nice firm bottom and is well spoken. Definitely been around the block o few times but always comes back looking good.
