A large part of Dan's home system and a pair of APS 4 Pin balanced K340s to play with. Now I just need to find a Senn headphone to connect to the cables I bought and a four pin XLR extension cable so I don't have to stand next to the rack to listen.

I know the EC amp. I was going to buy the Luxman after remember enjoying it when I listened to it at the last NY meet but then I saw that guy on Head-fi that might be backing out of his Balancing Act pre-order and I thought I might be forced to try to get on the list for one of those. It has been so long since I listened to headphones, with the exception of the Omega IIs once in a while, and I am behind the times for headphone amps.

I was just contemplating having one of those sent my way. I got the HP-2s in today and I actually have nothing to plug them in to. I thought I had a Melos in the closet but I must have gotten rid of it at some point. Just looking for a temporary solution while I figure out what single-ended/balanced amp I want to put in the system. I guess you don't have the Luxman yet to compare it to?

Thanks everyone. Al, the eternal salesman. If the Feds didn't expect me to fund all their programs starting this April I might have some more cash to throw around and would definitely pick it up. I do need an amp for 909s HP-2s that are on their way to Jersey now. Couldn't pass that deal up twice. Now back to spinning that vinyl.

Great new MFSL.

Great live album I picked up today.

Reading that album cover I thought for sure that it read "Mouth BARF Blues". I thought it was a drinking song album.

Jack, I have a pair of Odyssey Stratos Mono Extreme SEs hooked up now and find them to be very good for the price. I haven't compared them to my Halcros in this system but I have not been itching to dig out all the gear and buy some speakers to go with my main system since getting these amps. I am running them with a Modwright preamp into Audio Physic Virgo IIIs. They are huge on dynamics but also get the little things right. Much better than the Rogue Audio Stereo 90 that I had hooked up before them. I have not fed them anything that they did not like and I have been very impressed with them in the 6 months I have had them. I have not run them balanced yet but I might have to try it some day. The Odyssey guys will tell you that you have to keep them on 24x7 to sound there best so that is what I do but I am not sure if the improvements I heard were just getting used to the sound or if the big amps need to stay charged.

I am warming up the tuner now to listen to a live in studio performance of the Derek Trucks Band on 90.7 WFUV tonight at 9 EST. One of the best stations in NYC and excellent sound quality with a good tuner. Now I just need to decide whether I hook up one of the Reel-to-Reels and record the performance.

Good catch. I've got Rocky on the brain I guess.

A recent find with some seriously good sound. Recorded in a Bullring in Balboa, Spain. Bob Marley's No Woman, No Cry and Leonard Cohen's Famous Blue Rain Coat are especially good on the album.

Nice looking set-up there. Looks to be a very clean vintage piece. I always use white lithium grease on bearings on my turntables.

I got my gift well before the Holidays but finally got to open it up as I have been so busy lately. Awesome gift, I am so out of the loop I didn't even know these were being put out now. Thanks Jack.

I have only spent two weeks out of the last 12 in the States. I need to take a long vacation soon and catch up on PMs on several sites that I have been neglecting. Unfortunately I have Sao Paulo, Rio, Amsterdam and Berlin on my plate in January and the first week of February. Jack I have to head over to the gift exchange thread next and brag about the Blue Note you sent me. Excellent choice, thanks. Jeff

I picked up a Mint+ Beatles Blue Box that as far as I can tell none of the albums have been played.

I had a lot of trouble deciding which custom to get myself after listening to both at the Gaithersburg meet. I thought the UE10 sounded great, very neutral with nothing really standing out. Pretty well balanced and I think they are more accurate than the UE11s but in the end I decided the livelier sound from the UE11 would be more entertaining during my daily subway ride. I am waiting on the UE11s now and I am really hoping they show up before I leave on a 20 day trip the end of next week.

They are ATH-A900 frames with w1000 earpads and a woodied body that have CD3000 drivers.
