  1. No, that's right, I'm not sure what issue DC has with your statement, I wish he would be more specific.
  2. I've heard some Dali's -- they would definitely be on my short list. I would also include Focal (formerly JM Lab), Aurum Cantus, Quad L series (or L2). You might be able to get Gallo Reference 3.1's or whatnot within that price range. $1400 takes up too much of your budget, methinks, but if you're alright with that, those Ikon 7's definitely look like something I wouldn't mind owning. For amps, despite their ubiquity, I would definitely recommend Musical Fidelity. A3^CR/A3cr, A3.2, A308, or A5 (I think I may be straying outside your budget with those last two). I'm not as fond of the A3.5, from what I've heard.
  3. I guess it depends

  5. 2 Sammies from Quizno's -- balsamic chicken one and the black angus steak one and a cookie (oatmeal [FOTM!] raisin) FTW
  6. I haven't had a haircut in years. Hippie, aye.
  7. Actually, Hirsch would probably help you out -- he knows how to do it right. He has like 3 or 4 turntable setups, and even the cheesiest one sounds pretty damn good. Setup is to vinyl what room treatment is to speakers.
  8. Nice! I like that triple. Good work, Steve.
  9. The cat expresses that feeling you felt when you went to the proctologist.
  10. I think I like you already. Okay, feeling's over. (J/K...)
  11. My stomach has been tender since I was sick last week, I opted for oatmeal last night as well. Hope you feel better. Did you get the bug that's been going around? I got it last Tuesday/Wednesday.
  12. Good call -- those are the only two I own/know/can call my favorites by them, really. Has anyone posted Opeth, yet?
  13. The "dude" obviously does not have a dog, because if he did, it would look at him like, "what have you done with my master?"
  14. I've noticed that quite a few of us listen to and like Camille's Le Fil: I should also take this opportunity to mention that she's coming out with a new album (her first since then) some time later this year. I can't wait, myself. Hopefully enough people will buy it that she will tour the states again (her tour for Le Fil was at such a small scale that I had to see her in the French embassy).
  15. Bunch of shirts, some as low as US$4.08. Sweet.
  16. An "integrated" is basically a power amp + preamp. A preamp is basically a source-selection device that has volume control. If you connect your source to a power amp to speakers without any way of controlling your volume, it will always play at maximum volume. The benefits of an integrated is (a) one less pair of interconnects, ( one less place to plug in power, and in some cases, © size. The benefits of "separates" is (a) modularization, and ( advanced ability to fine-tune your system by mixing and matching components. I've heard neither speaker, but've heard good things about the AV123 one.
  17. How much was it going for? I presume more than the $99 blowout price that I saw at CostCo...but how much more? EDIT: Never mind, just looked it up, seems to be $500 is the price to beat. I was at CostCo just a week ago, and they had an entire Philips surround microsystem (less the tubes), including two floorstander fronts (the ones in the back were standmount 2-ways) and a sub...for $500. I'm not sure which I want more. I think I'll stick with looking at the microsystem for now, since it's pretty close to the one I heard before. Oh, and it was already pretty killer -- I don't know about giant-killer, but it was easily the best US$100 system I'd ever heard. You go to the $500 mark, I'm not so sure.
  18. MCD702
  19. Thanks. Makes me glad I never got around to getting that other micro system they had.
  20. Is that the test? I always thought it was HAVING SEX WITH OTHER MEN.
  21. Mozart was prolific as shit; Beethoven was innovative as all hell.
  22. Details?
  23. At least it's not this guy (self-proclaimedly "gay for radiohead").
