So, basically, most of you (well, not you specifically, aerius) voted for the one with the highest "drag coefficient"...? I.E. the least aerodynamic? ...or would it be "aquadynamic"? Or perhaps you just liked her for her "buoyant" personality. :rimshot: Heh-heh, "...sucked out midrange..." indeed...
-
No, that would still be a two-way if the two midranges are on the same crossover. Oversimplification, but: two-way == one crossover; 3-way == two crossovers. So: 3-way==woofer, mid and tweet; 2-way == tweet and mid/woof. But yeah, basically: two-way == two (different) drivers.

Oh, what do they know...actually, AdamP88 is a good guy and pretty knowledgeable, IIRC. Seems like a pretty constructive thread, so far...
-
What other people? You mean, these guys?

So taking that to the logical extreme, wouldn't it be best to rip out all the AC power transformers from all your gear and run them directly off the battery? I realize it'd have to be a custom job, but it seems kind of silly to conver it to AC just to convert it back to DC.

Dali has a wide range of speakers, I'm not sure any dip down below US$300, but I think one or two of them come near. Elac -- definitely worth checking out. Mission, I think has some pretty good ones in that range. I'm not sure Totem has anything in the <US$300 range, but if they do, you should definitely put it on your short list. I've heard good things about Scandyna (ex-B&W, I think), their MicroPod is <US$100 each, if you can find a distributor. Dynaudio (my current speaker company of choice) don't make anything that cheap, and even so, I haven't heard good things about their entry level gear (I think I heard that here, too). I think the very entry level speaker from Focal (Chorus 705) might be in that range, but again, that's their very entry level, and I haven't heard it myself, but I like their whole range, so it's worth at least listening to, methinks. Or you could just buy a pair of Visaton B200's and put 'em on a board ("dipole"...no, wait, that's "open baffle") and be done with it. You can think of them as big ol' headphones that you don't have to hang from your head.

All of them are too young for me, but if we're just talking aesthetics, [1-6] inclusive. Besides, I'd have to meet them. Most people, the first impression they make on me is their personality.
-
I could probably figure it out from this, but could you please just spill the beans and tell me to which tube you are referring?
-
It was recently, like within the last couple of months. It might have been something they just started experimenting with just before they sold, or right after. And I believe it was only their entry level electrostatic model -- sort of "develop a taste for the electrostatic sound -- your first taste is freecheap...-ish".

I already explained how the situations were analogous, you're so attuned to turning a blind eye to actual logical arguments that I will probably never get through to you -- perhaps you do not deserve that license...
-
Exactly. Exactly. No, my car was parked in front of my house -- not even on the main road, but an access road. The dipshit just happened to live a couple houses down from me. I wasn't even in it at the time. This is the sort of dipshit I'm worried about. The person couldn't even keep the car from going under 10 mph. I somehow doubt that they would have been able to weave in and around cones, either. So yes, I am all for that test. Too bad it's such an inconvenience for you, but since you're driving a lethal weapon, I think I'll allow it.
-
I disagree. It may not accurately show that you are a safe driver, but it will show that most morons who try to drive one that can't, can't. Example: an unlicensed driver totalled one of my previous vehicles. By "finding gear". WTF were they doing trying to drive a stick if they didn't know how to drive a stick? You want me to trust someone who doesn't wear a helmet? I don't think so.

Anyone know what the link is for Martin-Logan's cheap direct speaker? By direct, I mean I think they sell it directly.
-
Well, yes and no -- I won't go into that. If someone wants to commit suicide, is it any of my business? If you believe it isn't, then we'll agree to disagree on that, but I believe that there should be a certain amount of intrusion for the safety of numskulls. Too many numskulls about, we can't let them all go and kill themselves. That aside, none of those things is anything like a license. A license means you were given at least a little training in how to use the pocket rocket in other ways than as a lethal weapon. Sure, you might be one of the good ones, but how are the rest of us to know? Unless we actually have an institution set up wherein licenses are required, and that rule is enforced. So yes, I do believe one should have a license, and that it should be enforced. For my safety.

Bummer. I did find them pretty comfortable.

Does anyone know if one can obtain the bagels by themselves? And are they compatible with regular Grados. And no, I don't mean actual bagels, I mean the bagel pads that come with the GS1000's. I might try 'em with my HP-2's.

Nice. I wonder if the letters "DJ" come off when you take the screen out, as well. Think about it. With the screen, it has the classic "DJ" sonic signature -- I.E. crappy. Probably sounds better louder, but bassier, too (with the screen in).

I love the engrish on that site: "...amplitude to velocity converter device..." "...why this ?..." Don't get me wrong, I'm not disparaging their technical abilities, just their English skillz. Kevin -- don't make fun of them, they probably had Babelfish translate their text. But I would like to hear if you've heard of this type of technology before.
-
I will take the fifth on that. Personally, I think it looks "rad", being a guitarist-wannabe. Who's going to be the first to try it out? I have no idea how much they cost.
-
Well, you could use the EQ function to correct for the room a little bit. But yeah, it's probably sub-par as far as DAC's are concerned. Would work for most people, but maybe not someone with as refined ears as yours.
-
Entry level digital mixer. Can take digital inputs and produce balanced outputs, so could act like a digital source/preamp/EQ while you're at it. Yamaha marketing page/ad copy
-
I'd make you an offer, but I should be spending money on necessities, like furniture and shit. (If you saw my room, you'd agree.) But I'll take good care of them while you lend them to me! No seriously, why do you need a digital out, again? Just geta Mackie 1202VLZPro or something, there's your "preamp"...or if you need a digital, I have a Yamaha 01V I ain't using...
-
Benchmark DAC1? Grace Design m902? And WRT the Quad 12L's, you should give them to me. I "only" have two Mackie HR824's, and I need a surround sound setup.
-
He doesn't have any GS-1000's, what are you talking about? And besides, to someone like me, the photoshopped bowls were the point (I.E. comfort issue).

Thinking about buying a crazy high end source...

Yes. Yes, I do.
