Now there's a buttcrack or two I'd like to spackle... I have that one in poster form.
-
No, it sounds like just one very massive kettle drum hit...recorded in a cave...I don't think you guys are hearing it. It's like the bass was off for the rest of the song, and suddenly the subwoofer turns on...except I was listening on headphones.
-
I was talking about the last sentence, I.E. " I still think a lot of "huge" and "night and day" changes people report is largely a factor of the ears and brain adjusting to a new sound." -- I just think it's funny that I accuse you of brainwashing yourself when you're accusing us of brainwashing ourselves. (Overstatement, but I think I've explained the joke now at this point, which I hate doing.) I continue to think you're wrong. I don't usually listen to my equipment as it burns in (except speakers, and even then, I try to keep it to a minimum). Let me rephrase that: I believe you're right about most people. I believe you're wrong about me by lumping me in with that weak-minded crowd.
-
You keep telling yourself that.

I brought pretzels! The first time I heard it, anyway. Those Newman's Own Bavarian pretzels? Of course I didn't call them a bribe at the time (one doesn't do that), I just said, "you have to try these". And yes, I do want to hear it again, once you fix it/it burns in/whatever.

What the hell is going on at 1:39 of this track? That's more than a kick drum. On a side note: I challenge anyone with good bass on their headphones to listen to that track and say that the bass at that point isn't "visceral" (NSFW -- "I don't give a fuck you fucking fuck" being amongst the lyrics). You should feel that bass down somewhere around your diaphragm.
-
Congrats! I had my fingers crossed for you the whole time. Been trying to send you positive vibes, but then my fingers cramped up, so I started swearing at you. Sorry about that. Anyway, glad you are finally employed!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FH5gA3YrzVE&NR Yes, that Barney. Watch it anyway. NSFW due to language.

Judges say: over-ruled. He explicitly refered to the EA-4 as new, so when he said 'new' again, I just presumed he meant the EA-4 again. How was I supposed to know that when he said 'new', he actually meant (pauses for Shatner-esque intake of breath) new? I mean, shit, that was just Aug 1... Phidolox -- so is it going to be truly balanced this time?
-
So there's a bestest evar that's better than the current bestest evar? Well, all I can say in my own defense is that the picture that was shown was of an EA-4. If he mentioned another amp, it wasn't in this thread. EA-9? That's what it should be (IMHO). As it should.
-
Yeah, it's the EA-4. It's at the bottom of this page.
-
And just to get this conversation back on track... I'd love to, and possibly will, when I am in the market for an amp for my currently non-existent 4070's and ESP-950's. Probably next summer, I think.
-
Yeah yeah, takes one to know one and all that. Touch yourself in the daytime. Difference is, I'm right. If you're going to be a fucking pedant like I am (that's "your majesty king fucking pedantness" to you), you should at least be correct about it. As has already been stated, I'm just pointing out that a certain correction was fallacious. What I'm trying to do is reinforce my argument by explaining subtle shadings in what are both correct phrasings -- my personal interpretations. I never said "your" wasn't correct, I was just concurring that you were incorrect for correcting incorrectly. It is the generic buck -- that which is being saved or spent.
-
They both sound correct to me, you fucking pedant. "Bang for your buck" sounds more informal and personal, as if the writer is talking to you specifically, the reader, whereas "bang for the buck" sounds like the writer is speaking to a larger audience. Which, on the internet, he is.
-
Alright, maybe second-to-last person.
-
Yeah, sorry if I snapped -- I just resented the implication. I am the last person to be accused of "more expensive == better".
-
I said I heard them, not compared price tags.
-
Possibly, but not likely. After having heard Justin's KGSS and Blue Hawaii, I'm kind of spoiled. I have a Stax amp that will work for now (need to work out some sort of adapter) until I can save up the dosh. But it's not exactly on the top of my list of things to get, so this is quite a ways off. I agree it shore does look purdy, though. Wonder how it sounds, you heard it? And whether or not it is truly balanced. I don't think so. (folds arms and puts on faux-frowny face)

It is my humble opinion that 580V isn't that different from 600V.
-
Or we can do something a little bit more 'elite'.
-
Okay, this one may actually meet the criteria.
-
Oh, and love the "influence" list (on her MySpace site). And her singing style (especially on Opheliac) reminds me of someone -- I can't put my finger on it. Anyone know of whom she reminds me?
-
Okay, I take back what I said in the now listening thread, this is outstanding. Those are real harpsichords, not presets, and the music is nicely layered, hearing more things on every listen. Listen carefully, for example, to what she does with her voice during "Second Hand Faith". On first glance, it sounds like a Fiona Apple thingy. But those shifts from head-voice to chest-voice sound...I don't know what the word is...unreal? "Heard It All" is easily my favourite track. So...checking out her website, Opheliac is temporarily out-of-print and they're offering it at a discounted download, but without the extras (whatever those are)...think I'll wait until it comes back into print. I like extras. And apparently they were robbed almost two months ago. So if you like her stuff, buy it eventually. She would definitely fit right in with the DC goth/industrial crowd.
