  1. Can one do this with just anything? I want to anodize some guitar pickup covers and mounting rings. Deep Blurple (of course) -- is there any place to be recommended or avoided?
  2. Had my second guitar lesson, ever. (Yes, I'm going to be mentioning every one until it's normal.) Restrung one of my guitars that sounded muted and muffled -- it just needed new strings is all.
  3. "Deep." "Very deep."
  4. Half of ... no, 90% of what they're selling is the name, on that one.
  5. I'm home for a change, so...happy day!
  6. There's no way I can make Sunday morning, but I'll try and be there later on Sunday. But even that's a maybe. I already know what I want in terms of speakers (Gallo Stradas) ... and can afford (I.E. not MBLs), so with the knowledge that I will probably miss you all, I'll probably pass.
  7. Classic Venetian Snares spastic breakbeats kind of thing going on, interspersed with what sounds like real, live, acoustic violins and such. Really takes his music to another level. I may have to purchase this, but it's not on his bandcamp. EDIT: oh, wait, there it is, on the Planet Mu site.
  8. Graham, that looks delicious. I can skip on the chocolate.
  9. Random Chthonic on Tidal because which was triggered by which was triggered by and I am now lusting over that purple 5-string bass, because that's about as close as I'm going to get to her.
  10. Happy birthday, Jack! (party favour noise)
  11. Wait, are you saying black doesn't go with something?
  12. Yeah, that sounds like the ancient cookies problem.
  13. Yeah, the musicians are some serious fucking musicians (continues on second page, that's why I didn't just post a link to the one video): http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/general-music-discussion/299600-new-babymetal-song-awadama-fever.html#post4429829
  14. Maybe it's because they know at some point in the future it will be the inevitable "take your baby to work" day. (Can't find a sitter/day care closed/etc.)
  15. Condolences. That's gotta hit where it hurts. I need to figure out how to get in touch with my first girlfriend (2nd grade)...
  16. You might like Babymetal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7NxgEZEKOQ
  17. I'm really enjoying the Tim Powers. I really enjoy being shown the hero tropes from the perspective of the would-be hero, whose thoughts don't match at all what we would think of from a Jason Statham or an Ahnold character.
  18. I'm going to have a gyro sammich for lunch. Wait, is this insider trading? Dammit!
  19. That's pretty dark. ^ Is it just me, or does that baby's elbow look like an exposed boob, like she was breastfeeding?
  20. I use the RabbitAir -- it's good, but I don't clean it as often as I should, so I'm not the best judge. It uses the layered approach, so if you don't clean your outermost filter, then it clogs up, and the second layer has to start doing the work of the first. My only complaint is that it will only ever shoot air upwards -- it's only quietest when it's on its lowest setting, so I would like to have it shooting directly at my face when I sleep. And I can't. It's still quieter than the Honeywell QuietCare that I used to have, but not by much.
  21. Hey, I used to get 'tomorrow' wrong, too...and I still have to think about desert/dessert and I still want to spell address 'adress', but I manage to get redress (as in a wound) right every time. I actually used to be really good at spelling, started deteriorating the more I hung out on the internet. When one sees words misspelled repeatedly, one stops having the correct spelling firmly in place (in one's memory). How do you console a grammar nazi? "They're their there." fnar fnar fnar
  22. Apparently, Alestorm composed this song, just so that someone could make this joke:
  23. China -- they declared a 7.5?% drop in the Shanghai composite index, and since everyone thought/knows that China is backing the US' debt, and everyone else is pretty much already up shit creek, so no-one can back China if they crash, it'll cause a domino effect. Theoretically. It'll bounce back. It always does. Except for the one time it won't. I don't think we're there yet, but I don't think my stock options are ever going to be worth anything ever.
  24. That's actually a good thing, Brent, it means you bought all those stocks while they were on sale! Or was it right before..? Also, you are way too optimistic. The reason for this current crash is because of trouble with the world economy especially China -- who are holding a lot of the US' debts. If they crash, we crash with them, and no-one else in the world is in a place to help us out this time. We're all fucked.
