  1. You know, if I run those posts through paulstretch, I get a normal drinking buddy.
  2. No, he's at getrealny. And: I am envy.
  3. Apple has the highest profit margin by far -- what kind of comparison is that?
  4. Pfff, beer. But still: LOL
  5. That's a beaut.
  6. I need to get back into oatmeal. Me: Chick Fil-A chargrilled chicken samich. Only because I didn't see that they had introduced spicy nuggets until after. Maybe I'll have those for dinner.
  7. Welcome back! It's exactly what it sounds like. Unless what it sounds like is "not good", because it was quite quaffable. Other than a pure Belgian, the most summery beer I've ever enjoyed. Gonna try the Victoria, myself, I've decided I really like Allagash.
  8. Dude, I am all about outside the box. Will definitely give that one a more thorough investigation. Something I can move from one room of the house to another in one or two trips. 3 is pushing it, but could be convinced. So like the Quad 12L's and a LOD would do it, but 2 speakers, sub, LOD and amp/dock/w/subout is a bit much, unless it was an all-in-one system that hooked together such as this if it sounded good enough.
  9. Allagash Victor -- yet another win Sent from mah Droid
  10. Not yet. (scribbles, virtually)
  11. Yes, really I like the part about the "immortal life replacement program". That's just silly. And yet, marketing genius.
  12. Chicken-eggplant-basil from Pilin.
  13. So what was the consensus for this -- the question being, what's the best cheapest "totable" speaker dock/pair of actives/whatevs for the iPod. AudioEngine A5's? Quad 12L? Martin-Logan CLX? Bose? I guess the single thing I would miss the most is not distorting at medium volumes in the mid-field. Any 2.1 systems worth looking at that have any decent bass? I'm considering something like this or even ugly like this, but I suspect the latter of a midrange suckout (tweeters and woofers, no mids), and the former of boombox sound (doesn't go loud* enough well). * And by loud, I don't mean party loud, I mean just normal for most other people loud.
  14. Yeah, thanks for the virtual postcards Al. Lots of "Wish You Were Here".
  15. Hey, look at that, lots of single men in San Francisco -- go figure!
  16. So my DVI-to-HDMI converter cable is illegal? That's a rather moronically closed gesture. They're basically excluding themselves from anyone who has a graphics card that does not have HDMI built in (in other words, that would rule out breakout cables as well). Oh well, it was nice knowing you while you lasted, HDMI.
  17. Yeah, me too, although she's in Cowboys and Aliens, so I will have seen her in something else soon.
  18. (a) I don't watch House (yet, yes I know, I need to watch them all -- I'm on ep 6 of Arrested Development, give me a fucking break) ( She looks completely different with those huge glasses © Now that you mention it, I thought it was someone I knew, and now that I know it's her, I think I subconsciously knew it was her (d) More importantly, where can I get that shirt?!?!? I don't give a fuck about Olivia Wilde, my chances with her are in the region of negative infinity. And by region, I mean the light from negative infinity will never hit my eyes in my lifetime.
  19. Finished these last night -- have to change my tune. The Lamadrid was "alright", and the Alpamanta was "off" (and I don't mean in a general way, I mean specifically this bottle was off, so would be unfair to judge without trying another bottle). I was drinking the Alpamanta first that night, and it tainted my tastebuds.
  20. http://www.break.com/index/dude-jumps-over-moving-car-2079512 Who is that, and more importantly, where can I get that shirt?

I'm such a sap for melodrama, I know, but I just love a good old school ballad. My mom used to listen to the likes of Tom Jones and Englebert Humperdink (the likes of this list), and my dad would listen to Vikki Carr and ...well, the female equivalent. Also -- someone convince that it was live. I want to think it is, because it seems to be pretty much in sync...but there's no way you won't hear the fingers on the mic. Also...it's a one-er. Wow just for that.
  22. Wanted to, looked into it, can't this weekend, totally swamped at work, and between that and trying to sell my mom's car, can't be that far away.
  23. Finished Cheat the Grave -- outstanding. She's surprised me twice, hard, in the last two books, doing things that I've never witnessed in other authors. Not quite Mira Grant/Seanan McGuire good, but still very good. But if you're bothered by nitpicks, stay away -- there are some huge ones. To me, it's worth the ride. About to start The Neon Graveyard: The Final Sign of the Zodiac.
