  1. Alternately, Alpamanta estate & Lamadrid single vineyard reserva malbecs Colors are...not nice. Mean. Zombie in a b-movie mean. No, srsly, meh to both. Sent from mah Droid
  2. Ah, that black barleywine is so good, of course no-one likes it as much as I do -- I hope you do. Where'd you find it? Looks like you got the grand cru, too. And of course, the Norton Reserva.
  3. The Fall, I Am Kurious Oranj
  4. I hate it when I miss posts.

I thought this was a nice little article on Nils Lofgren.
  6. I don't think you have to worry about anyone siding with Pat Robertson -- and in order for something to be political, there'd have to be two sides, wouldn't there? I mean, maybe a view here or there, but in general? The man was a nutter.
  7. Actually, that's exactly what I meant -- that he succeeded...in making a Pink Floyd album. I mean, "the pink floyd sound" is so rare, that even when a band has a serious Pink Floyd bent to them (Antimatter, Porcupine Tree), they sound like they have a serious Pink Floyd bent, but they don't sound like Pink Floyd, like they're trying to be Pink Floyd. Whereas aMLoR sounds like a Pink Floyd album through-and-through. Heck, he even brought the sound up to date, with the opening percussive thrums of "Yet Another Movie" and the sparse yet detailed vocoder sounds of "A New Machine". EDIT: Besides, it says, "Pink Floyd" right on it. Didn't they, like, win that particular lawsuit?
  8. "It was made to sound like a Pink Floyd album." IMHO, he succeeded.
  9. How Long? (Assemblage 23 remix), by Mesh
  10. Best. Demo reel. Evar.
  11. MLOR sounds more like a Pink Floyd album than Final Cut does, though. I mean, if you've heard David Gilmour's solo albums, it doesn't sound like a David Gilmour solo album. It sounds like a Pink Floyd album. It was David Gilmour in full Pink Floyd mode, so I don't have a problem with it being sold that way. I mean, if you didn't follow the proceedings, I'm not sure you'd be able to tell.
  12. Oh yeah, my commute is not going to suck tonight: I should mention why I posted this: the image of a hay truck on fire barreling down 66, like a redneck Ghost Rider.
  13. Ayre Acoustics QB-9. There's plenty of others -- google "USB DAC balanced", click shopping, then click <US$250, then change 250 to 300. Of the ones I'm seeing, I'd go with the Alesis IO2. The Lexicon was thought of pretty highly in its day, but its day was more than a couple years ago at this point, so I don't know if it'd still compare. I think it might.
  14. Happy birthday, bakerman!
  15. Yeah, best rock instrumental performance for that year or something. I actually really adore A Momentary Lapse of Reason. You should revisit that one as well.
  16. Marooned is awesome, it didn't win the Grammy for nothing.
  17. Allagash Four -- out. Fucking. Stan. Fucking. Ding. (3 syllables) Sent from mah Droid
  18. They regulate fire ants in Nova Scotia?
  19. You sure you want to compost indoors? Kidding... Me -- ate good food, drank good drink, and watched good movies -- pretty much an all-around win of a day. And with Justin. It was nice. Justin -- it's too bad you didn't join us for 901 -- everything there was outstanding all over again. Just cannot recommend it enough.
  20. Also had the oatmeal stout at 901 (Capital City BrewCo) -- yummy.
  21. Stillwater Existent -- very good Also tried the DC Brau Citizen -- outstanding, not hoppy at all Sent from mah Droid
  22. This might be my favorite video ever. Amusing concept, executed self-deprecatingly humorously.
  23. (gets all dreamy-eyed)
  24. Still my favorite album by them -- good call.
