  1. That's a huge picture of a knob.
  2. Uh...no. That feeling started several posts ago. I'm actually thinking watermelon (unsalted) or green apple.
  3. I kind of want a Jolly Rancher now.
  4. "You want me to show you The Finger?"
  5. Oh yeah, absolutely, that goes without saying -- the whole project is being done on a budget. But I still think some thought went into the choice. Could be wrong, though.
  6. Wait, let me get this straight (ahem) -- you are trying to get into Steve's pants (albeit of the thunder variety)?
  7. I know, right? Anyway, it's a home-made speaker system based on an Ikea salad bowl, some Pioneer car speakers and some corresponding digital amps. The salad bowl is inverted, drilled holes through, and acts as the enclosure. parts list videos, including construction of the speakers I think it's pretty obvious that I was initially drawn to this because of the music-making-in-linux aspect, but since the speaker is polydirectional, that ended up interesting me, too. I guess the big question is, is it optimal? I presume they picked car speakers for their ability to project (I.E. go loud), but I'm not as interested in that as I am in fidelity, so immediately, my first thought is full-rangers. Or at least better car speakers (being partial to Focal, I'd probably swing that way). I'm actually not that far away from VA Tech, could probably swing by for a listen.
  8. No, they're more colored, it's just a color you like.
  9. Not Peter (well, am, but...you know, whatever...), but: they do make a slamming good burger, but not sure I'd want to travel 30+ miles/45 minutes for it. Maybe I'm spoiled because they're everywhere around here. Now...Ray's Hellburger, I'd instruct you to travel for.
  10. I think having heat sinks on your heat sinks is best, a la the cyborg former-life-as-a-dog things in Snowcrash.

Ah, that was the part I was missing.
  12. Florence + the Machine -- dig! Pain of Salvation -- I love this more every time I listen to it. They have that certain oblivion that sells affectations that would otherwise be interpreted as pretentiousness -- sends me all the way back to the 70's. Faces kind of stuff (especially the guitar tones); there's definitely a track inspired by Zappa; really great organic production -- just delish.

^ Am I missing something? Why is this a good deal?
  14. Yeah, I should chew more as well. But I don't like masticating in public. Nuts and seeds -- unchewed -- can get hung up in less than iron constitutions, swell, and cause blockages (ask Tyll, amongst others). So ignore pedant-head for today, he seems to be on the warpath.
  15. Why didn't you just say 'greens'?
  16. This fucking rocks. RIYL lighter Porcupine Tree, recent Katatonia.
  17. That's an insult to cats.
  18. Anathema, We're Here Because We're Here
  19. And you don't post much. So let me get this straight: you really do enjoy the beautiful beautiful music?
  20. Yeah, that site gave me nightmares, too.
  21. Orange chicken from Ricky's Ricebowl
  22. I use nauseating/nauseated to eliminate confusion.
  23. Okay, now I'm not sleeping.
  24. And we lose another one.
