  1. This version is both inferior and superior to the versions playing in my head, not sure why (other than the obvious—it doesn’t go on for an hour).
  2. Donald Brinegar Singers, Celebration Collection Yes, really. The lead singer of Al1ce shared privately with me that she sings on here, so I gave it a serious listen and it's so peaceful and soothing and perfectly sung I can't help but love it.
  3. Not with either of those two, but when I first discovered audiophile equipment, I ran my Spendor S3/5a speakers with a small Jolida integrated amp and a Sunfire Subwoofer. A couple lessons learned, but the biggest one is the difference between longer cable runs (the sub's crossover can relieve whatever amp is driving the Cicadas from having to amplify those lower frequencies) vs having a less accurate crossover point (the Cicadas probably have a lower frequency roll off that can be -- very roughly -- matched with the sub's crossover), so spend some time researching both. The Sunfire had a nice feature called "variable phase" which basically adjusted microdelay. It definitely made integrating easier. Also, where the crossover point is very important -- the lower the better.
  4. Matt Elliott, Farewell to All We Know bleak music
  5. So technically, that should say, “You were here”.
  6. I just wanted to work "IPANDA" into a sentence.
  7. Can’t you counter with an IPA NDA?
  8. A bunch of Algerian bands via the Al1ce Facebook live feed.
  9. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/649829678 This is the latest (animated) video from my favourite band I've been hanging out with lately, Al1ce It's all sorts of awesome Unrelated:
  10. BRB, just found out both Elder and Chelsea Wolfe released new albums.
  11. I pronounced that in my head as "fuh-TOOM! fuh-TOOM! fuh-TOOM!"
  12. I don’t think transes need substantiating.
  13. I like the Foxx-era stuff, as well as the Ultravox albums after those 4, but much prefer his (Foxx) more recent work solo, with Louis Gordon, and with the Maths.
  14. The solution to this is so obvious it’s painful, like watching a Catholic coming to grips with transubstantiation.
  15. Just in case there’s any question: Vienna , Rage in Eden, Quartet, and Lament. Bonus: Monument (live album) and Midge Ure’s first two solo albums. You might find one slow spot (left as an exercise for the listener) until you “get” it.
  16. All four of those albums are perfection.

    Downton Abbey

I’m not sure the series deserves an entire thread, but considering the scathing nature of the commentary I’ll allow it. unrelated:
  18. No, keep the Toole-ed DAC. Those analog stages are gold.
  19. Yeah, not that ambitious. Besides, wouldn’t want to take away from him. That’s like his whole shtick.
  20. Converge, Endless Arrow I’m pretty sure this is their song, “Aimless Arrow”, paulstretched. It’s fairly epic.
