    Magnatune

Anyone else doing this? Or at least applauding?
  2. So what did you spend the $250 on?
  3. I actually think they're a lot closer than others do as well -- I still prefer the Mk I, but could completely live with Mk II, especially with rock/pop music, which is mostly what I listen to.
  4. But I thought it was hard to get the amp socket other than by buying an extension cord. Or has someone discovered a source?
  5. Poops a lung
  6. Yeah, it's probably the 50a450 they're selling at $800 -- if it's any of the 1080p sets, they're beating the best price I've ever seen for it by hundreds of dollars (I think the lowest I've seen is $1300 for a refurb). As evil as I think of Wal-Mart, even I would shop there at that price.

    Nixon

Since when did Nixon make headphones? link They're probably OEM'd, but then again, I doubt their watches are OEM'd, so maybe not. But then again, their specialty is watches, so of course their watches aren't OEM'd, so it's still possible that everything else they sell (clothes, bags, cufflinks, etc.) is. But I certainly don't recognize them, so if anyone has any theories on the subject -- much less heard them -- please speak up. No, I'm not getting them -- way too expensive to try just for whimsy.
  8. I agree with what's already been concluded: microphonicity (?word) and bad or dying tube. The only additional piece of information/opinion I'd offer is that bad tubes can sometimes be confused for a bad connection (tube to socket), but that usually results in a bad tube anyway. So progold and deoxit. Even if you end up replacing the tube, it's good to make sure you have a good connection.
  9. Okay, so maybe the resistor is "cheating" by sending it this signal from one of the power lines? Maybe it's just a single DC signal...well, it has to be something simple like that, if the AV cables work with it, which apple says it does.
  10. Okay, it has to be entirely in software, because it's the same exact cables.
  11. Sounds like a breed of dog.
  12. Amazon has Buffy for $70 today only. That's $10/season.
  13. Again, that's the controls, I think the actual lineouts are the same. I'll try it tonight.
  14. ...and people with allergies...to faceplants.
  15. Don't they all work?
  16. Bond's best double-entendres -- now you know what kind of man reads Maxim.
  17. Solid stainless steel, not chrome. And I think I want it anodized. And: oops, wrong pic, meant this: ...and technically, I haven't bought it yet. And no, it's not a rectal thermometer, it's for my tea. And yes, I had to look up what a "tamper" is, and yes, I did giggle when I looked at this gallery (of buttplugs).
  18. Actually, I don't mind him resurrecting my thread with actual advice (I.E. advice > dirt), so no banning, please.
  19. Alright, both cables did it this time. Next time the battery discharges, I'm going to reformat it for windows (complete different computer). I only just got the thing, so it should still be under warranty. Question -- is there a way to modify the cable so that it doesn't charge, but one can still transfer songs onto it?
  20. You really can't get much cheaper -- just use the analog outputs from your computer, if you're that desperate/impatient/cheap/tiddlywinks.
  21. Do they have any kits? Although I suspect that wouldn't be sufficiently DIY for Kevin.
  22. No, I just want something -- possibly several somethings -- anodized black.
  23. Yes.
  24. He looks like he was born in the middle of a tornado. He still has that wind-blown hair look. It's probably permanent.
