Bel Canto high rez USB playback at last
ilikebananafudge replied to aardvark baguette's topic in Audio Accessories
So am I. Anyone know? Just in terms of sound quality, besides what Knuckledragger said. -
Bumping this thread with a question. Is there something against cardas? Because it seems everyone uses their connectors and solder, but not many people use their cables here. Are their cables poorly made? Sorry I always ask questions. I feel like a parasite here. I never really contribute much

Just curious, how would a GS-1 compare to a well-built M3?

AKG K271 MK2 Should be here Monday.

I like IEMs better because I can just take them out with my iPod if I want isolation on the go. Closed cans would likely be a pain in the butt to carry around. Also, they isolate better, no?

Hey y'all, So I have some shure se310s, but I was wondering if getting a pair of ER4ps would be an upgrade. I hear that the etymotics are rather bass shy, but I'm not a basshead, as long as I can hear it and its nice and tightly controlled. Here's some other information. I'll probably be using the phones mostly in my dorm room from my home rig so that I don't bother my roommate when he is trying to study (my HD650s obviously leak a lot). I listen to all kinds of music, rock, indie, metal, jazz, classical, and reggae. I value clarity more than almost everything else. I also listen at pretty low levels, especially on IEMs. I really don't like the 310s if they're turned up, they get an odd tonality, but when they're on quiet volume, they're not so bad. I also would like better isolation, even though the shures are great, I hear that the etymotics are better for this, is that true? Thanks in advance for your opinions.

From my limited experience: HD650 with sweet DIY Cable > K701 stock > HD650 Stock > Old style Headphiled SR225 > W1000 > Sony MDR7506 > SE310 = KSC75 > Apple Earbuds

This has all been very interesting for me to read. I was unaware of the small drama I would incur, but if you want my two cents, Pompom just seems like he is expressing his opinion, not doing anything terribly inconsiderate.

That's always a good thing Too bad the cables didn't come with a cardioversion machine, I've always wanted one of those. They seem neat.

Ah, well I'm glad I didn't buy anything that cost more than an ILJ cable.

So I just bought some Iron Lung Jellyfish Power cables, an improvement from the stock stuff on my amp and DAC. But I was wondering if having a fairly cheap power strip (an absolute necessity in my dorm room) would negate the effect of the better power cables? I don't really know much about electronics, cables, or anything that has to do with anything in my entire audio set-up... so some good input would be much appreciated. Alternatively, do any of you think that I just wasted my money on the power cables and that they won't make a noticeable difference in sound quality? I'd be interested if that's what you thought as well.

I don't have a mac laptop, so that's not an option, sadly. Thanks though.

Sadly, I am quite clueless when it comes to DIY. Haven't built anything

So I just bought a CKKIII with a built in Alien DAC and the Alien just isn't cutting it for me. The CKKIII is a big upgrade for me, and I thought it was amazing from USB until I hooked it up to my parents cheap CD Player ( JVC XL-FZ158 ) and then it sounded a LOT better. So I think I need a new source to bring to college. Problem is that I don't have a lot of money to spend. For reference I have K701s and Headphiled SR225s. I like the K701s better as of right now. My budget is around $300. I was thinking of several things: The cheapest solution would be to use the Wolfson in my iPod. I could hook up my iPod to my Meier Move, which would function as a pre-amp. I'd just need to buy a mini to RCA adapter cable. I was also thinking of a Beresford TC 7510 DAC. I had heard good things about it over at head-fi. At $250 or so that would be great. If I bought this I would also need an EMU 0404 or a USB thingie to connect the DAC to my laptop. I was also thinking of selling the meier move and trying to get a pico and using that as a pre-amp, either through the DAC on pico or on my iPod. Or I could just buy the JVC CD player for around $100. But I had never heard of it, so I figured there were probably better options. Another option would be way out of my budget, but I could get a Stello DA100. I sort of want to do this, but its kind of double my budget... Any thoughts, suggestions, impressions would be great. Thanks

Oh. I've heard that's a great show, actually. But I haven't seen it. I'll look into it

Unrelated question: jinp, what's going on in your avatar? It's confusing me
-
I'd guess (not from experience) that would work pretty well. Good luck with things

Yeah, that makes sense.

So I just bought a headphiled SR225 and the dumb bum who had it done had it terminated to 1/8, so now I need an adapter. I know Grado makes a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter cable, but who makes the reverse? And does it really matter about what company I buy from? Thanks in advance!
