  1. I've read all afternoon about the Beta22 and my head is exploding! There's so much and I know so little! It really really looks impressive and it's high on my list now. Just all these configurations.....I wouldn't know what to choose. It's just that I want to buy this kind of amp once and be done with it. That's why price is not really a problem, well as long as it's no more than 2k, still have to think about a matching source....an ipod will look rather...weird... If it's really a step up from the Rudistor I had in mind first (please confirm harsch lol) then I'll let that idea go and go for the better option. It just is kinda frustrating I don't have the upportunity to listen to all of these to make up my mind and find out what would suit my needs best.
  2. Massive Attack - Mezzanine Portishead - Dummy Stephen Stills - Manassas Reservoir Dogs - Sound Track Michael Jackson - Off The Wall Air - Pocket Symphony Bonus: Tickets to see Neil Young Live in Weert!!!!
  3. Well, I won't go there. I am not interested in participating in the Headcase vs Headfi war which I didn't even know excisted before yesterday. FYI, the link on Headfi has been removed and I plan on keeping it that way. I might just start the poll there as well. The results are quite interesting though. Much love for the Beta22. Did most of you build it yourself or ordered it premade? And if so, where did you order it as it appears more than one builder offers them?
  4. What are the differences between the 2 iyo?
  5. None. There are not many people around me who have this sort of equipment, let alone care.
  6. Yep, it would. You're refering to..??
  7. Because of a thread on Head-Fi (see link) it got me wondering, only I wanted to add a poll. I know that a poll is somewhat useless as they are misleading since not many people, or maybe even none, have heard them all which will ultimately lead to a misformed / incomplete picture. Nonetheless I would like to try and ask the people who are voting to explain why they voted the way they did, what else they've heard from the list and what sound(sig) they're after. When you feel I have left out an option which cannot be missed on the list, feel free to add your thoughts and please eloborate. A little background: I still have to save up for a desktop amp and had my mind set on the Rudistor RPX-33 because of what I've read. I still have time (too much lol) before I buy and the thread triggered my interest again to keep digging for what's out there. I was especially surprised by the Beta22 (the premade one, I'm no diyer) being cheaper (or around the same price as the RPX-33) while, if I get it right, getting rated above the latter. That could be interesting. So...give it a go! Head-Fi link: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f5/what-ultimate-cost-no-object-solid-state-amp-today-317815/index7.html
  8. Thanx for your info. Sooner than I expected the problem already has been solved...my bf bought an AM-67 on the internet ----> $237,- which is peanuts. Thanx again for your info on such short notice as, I believe, you're the only one so far.
  9. I started this on head-fi as well but I thought for the poor suckers that aren't allowed to post on headfi anymore or simply just don't wanna I post it here also So, as title states I'm looking for a replacable amp for the Akai AM-69. The problem is it's broke as it provides the music with A LOT of noise and cracking. Very unpleasant to say the least. We once had it fixed and it worked for a while but it came back again, driving me nuts. Here's the catch: It has 2 coax inputs and 2 optical inputs. 7 line-ins and 3 line-outs. 180watt with 4 ohm and 100 watt with 8 ohm. The rest of the specs I do not have on me now, so if anyone needs to no more, let me know and I'll try to find it. We would like to keep AT LEAST 2 digital inputs, note at least. Now as this is quite hard to find and I'm not on a grande budget for this one now it has to be priced reasonably, like around $500,-. New or used doesn't matter. If anybody has any idea on where to look I will be eternally grateful Thanx in advance!
  10. What a cuty! So small and furry! Love the colour as well. I don't often see gray cats.
  11. Ow, it's not that I feel bad for liking them and I most certainly will buy them in the future. It's just that sometimes I have the feeling my prefs / ears / tastes differ some compared to the mainstream preferences. I mean, I'm not a sennheiser fan. I dislike the 780's which many peeps seem to like on headfi. I like my 750s and the ed9 and over here it seems as all Ultrasones are being bashed, almost bose-like. I absolutely dislike the DT770's (80 ohms) which are liked by many people on the boards especially because of their bass and that's the main reason I don't like them. Their bass sucks imo. Overpowering, muddy, not detailed and the rest of the spectrum is lacking or just overpowered by their aweful bass. That just makes me wonder whether it's me who's deaf or just everyone else. The latter seems kind of absurd. It, ofcourse and more likely, is that I just have different preferences and what I like and want from a headphone. But I am merely speculating here. My comments, this one and the previous one, crossed my mind several times now, especially triggered by me not liking the 780s while a whole lot of people do. I mean, bloated bass is bloated bass, right and everybody should, could, would notice that, right? But it doesn't work like that it appears and it just made me wonder and I decided to blahh it in a post Anyways, what I aso meant was that I would like to hear the hps that fall in the same price catagory as the ed9s to see how different they are and to be able form a more...objective like meaning or even a more knowledgable meaning. I don't have golden ears and even more my knowledge is still really lacking in describing and recognizing sound. When people talk about a more pronounced "upper" midrange or treble or more subbass I'm like, how the hell do you hear that. Or about what freqs are recessed or the opposite. I can only talk about bass, mids and highs and only limited. It's being mentioned that the 750s have a hollow midrange I don't know how to detect that. I think I can hear it in certain songs and in others (like in most) I don't. Same is for the peaky treble / sibilance. I don't hear that. In some songs yes but not in most. Now, does that mean it's all depending on the recording? Take the recessed midrange of the 750s..in some songs more noticable than others. Is that just showing the recording as is or does it always have recessed midrange but when a recording has a too much forward midrange it's getting evened out by my hp, making it sound like a good balanced midrange? (confusing he ) Or maybe it's just my mood of the day or maybe even a combination of all those factors. And now I have gone so far of topic haha....but that's what I was thinking about and since you all have a habit here of going of topic....
  12. What other dynamics are you refering to? I really like the ed9's but I would like to try to hear the great contenders (but I guess most of them are no longer being made..?) so that I have a clear view on what's out there in that pricerange and how they stack up against the ed9. When spending that much money on headphones, which I'm definitely gonna do, I'm not buying blind or based on someone else's opinion. In the end it's also a matter of taste and i dislike the hd600/650 so far from what've heard. I kinda lost what I wanted to say...I'm tired...thanx for your input though
  13. Wauw...so many bad impressions on the ed9 here...so many good impressions on the 780's on headfi...makes me feel my ears are terribly flawed or my taste is even worse..sigh...(although it's good to see some of these impressions are based on a flawed model). I really like the ed9, enough to blow my money on them in the future. I was really impressed by these. They even make shitty music sound good too lol! Too bad I'm unable to hear the other great contenders mentioned in this thread. I'd love to make it to the CanJam but that's just impossible, moneywise.
  14. No way!!! Oh well, Grado is nice too...
  15. Now that's funny
  16. I use the Minolta Dualscan III atm but I'm not completely satisfied with it. Don't have the money to upgrade yet unfortunately...The 9000 is rather expensive Hasselblads have gotten a lot cheaper these days indeed. That's also the reason why I don't bother looking into the Mamiya's. I'm looking at the 500 c/m's and 503 cx or something like that. I don't know too much about all their differences, I just really want the swoppable matglass option.
  17. Nice! You can develop it yourself. See link: http://www.foma.cz/Upload/foma/prilohy/F_pan_R_en.pdf For now I shoot 35mm but I'm hopefully soon moving on to working with Hasselblad. Although I have to say, I'm working with Kodak Technical Pan atm and the sharpness is absolutely comparable with that of medium format. Really impressive. When I do buy the mf-camera I will be buying somthing like the LS9000 to scan the negs for placing them on my website and things like that. It's just that a lot of money is involved in things like that Velvia 50...real nice. Beautiful film you're working with. The colours are fantastic. Luckily it still excists.
  18. A rinsing table for my new darkroom..I couldn't be more happy!
  19. Massive Attack - Blue Lines Massive Attack - Collected
  20. Looking forward to their new album! It's been so long. Hope my local cd shop will have it soon...
  21. That's what I did the first time. Now I'm actually reading between the pictures
