It's true, reading HF is bad for my health. I was trying to look up stuff on the SR-001 Mk2 yesterday and then look what happened, started reading other stuff and ended up like the above pic. Been 4ish months since the last time I legitimately checked HF.

I can't even imagine what it's like to watch the entire Ring cycle live (in one "go"), but I definitely hope to someday. What's the time span for something like that? One a night, so four nights in a row? Epic.

Anyone and anything has the necessary skills to work on an R10. The hard part is having the R10 both functional and aesthetically unchallenged at the end.

I have no use/space for a desktop setup and I'm too poor to buy an overpriced overheating power hogging gaming laptop. But yeah, it should be easy to construct a relatively cheap desktop setup that will run SC2 well. Dang, how old is your computer? Specs? I think my laptop can probably barely run it (Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz, 3GB RAM, GeForce 9300M GS) but I'd be very afraid of the consequences of playing. I can imagine myself either being addicted and neglecting important things or being scarred for life getting constantly beaten by 11 year old koreans.

Like is indeed too vague a word, and Porcupine Tree is indeed "like" Pink Floyd. But they're also different in many ways, and in fact, iirc Steven Wilson hates that people think of PT as the next PF. Er, yeah.

I've spent the past 5 or so years trying to find bands/music like Pink Floyd, and frankly I'm glad I haven't found anything quite like them. That's what makes music interesting. If I had, I'd probably just deem them a rip-off anyway. It's definitely fun to see the far-ranging influence across a large variety of genres, and also fun to see that I enjoy most of these genres. Thanks for the recs, I think I tried Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream at some point in time and was confused and/or scar®ed.

Been trying to find all the direct and indirect musical offsprings of Pink Floyd. Started out with prog and some other kinds of rock, moved to various kinds of metal, now trying electronic stuff. Not gonna lie, some of this stuff scares me. Not that album, but subgenres like darkpsy and full on psytrance. I'm afraid I might actually start becoming insane. Maybe insane enough to even start listening to krautrock.
