  1. Can't see it being too bad at the stores this time around for an essentially incremental upgrade. But those Mactards are crazy, so who knows.
  2. Reserved 32GB 3G S for release day.
  3. Michael Franti And Spearhead -- Yell Fire!
  4. Ha. I just put this on reserve at the library the other day and will also be buying as soon as it comes out in softcover.
  5. Assuming OS X actually supported Blu-ray decoding.
  6. Then suffer. Bit of a disappointment here finding my 2008 iMac won't be able to take advantage of GPU acceleration in Snow Leopard. Even for Apple, the list of supported cards is pretty fucking short and the disqualified systems of startlingly recent vintage!
  7. The 13" only have the 9400M. But you can add 8GB RAM for $1,100 if you like. - $1199. 13" MacBook Pro. 2.26GHz. 2GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 9400. 160GB HD. Firewire - $1499. 13" MacBook Pro. 2.53GHz. 4GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 9400. 250GB HD. Firewire The 15" and 17" models both got $300 price cuts.
  8. There doesn't seem to be one specifically for general chitchat that I could see? Doubtless will be heavily shoveled-upon if in error in this matter. Anyway, nice update of the 13" Macbook -- now Pro -- today I thought. $100 price cut and FireWire makes a comeback, adds LED backlit display, support for 8GB of RAM, and the new uber-permabattery (OK, not unmixed blessing). Also thought $30 for Snow Leopard upgrade was pretty fair. Leaner, faster and (allegedly) fixed fucking finder would be well worth that to me.
  9. When you get to 40, your wife will settle for firm too.
  10. The good thing about them not changing the physical form factor much this time around is the stealth upgrade potential. "Hey, I didn't know your phone could shoot video?" "Oh, there was a big firmware upgrade, honey."* (Well, there was.)
  11. Does a one-legged duck swim in circles?
  12. I think the Balancing Act is going to be right up there with the 800s, too. Just a pity that room was so loud, because it was hard to get a good listen.
  13. Agreed. But the pocket protector wants what it wants.
  14. No. AT&T allowed no cost upgrades to the 3G. But, remember, they didn't subsidize the price of the original iPhone at all -- so it's not a valid comparison. Whether the current offer is fair rather depends on how far you are into your current contract. The other question is, what are you going to be able to sell a 3G iPhone for now?
  15. Yes, then you've paid off your original subsidy and qualify for the new one when you re-up. So you'd pay the standard $99, $199, $299 depending on model. They're essentially splitting the difference. Unsubsidized price of the 32GB phone is $699. 3G owners who are not currently upgrade-eligible get half the subsidy at $499, if they sign up for another 2 years. New buyers get it all at $299.
  16. Free, eh? I'll take seven. EDIT: Checked online and it'll cost me $500 for a 32G 3G S if I upgrade early. Bleah.
  17. I might sit this one out. Bwaaahaaahaaa. As if. Anyone heard yet what the AT&T upgrade conditions will be for current 3G owners who are still under contract?
  18. Screw you both, Dieter and Boris rule! Ween -- La Cucaracha
