  1. I think you're missing something. Don't know anything about that particular model, but if it has HDMI inputs than they will pass both the audio and video signals. There is usually an option in the setup menu that selects between using the TV's own speakers or speakers connected to the receiver itself. I suspect you have it set to the former right now.
  2. Good enough for me. I'd also posit that, though we're talking mainly about absolute performance, it's also a relative bargain compared to the cost of the company it's keeping.

    Fullscreen Gigapan Viewer: Another Ant!
  4. It pains my fanboy soul to say it, but Safari 4 has been weirdly flaky for me recently and I've been using FF more and more often.
  5. I thought of this thread when I read this. Also, he's going to be real tough to pick out of the lineup, yeah?
  6. Dead Can Dance -- Selections From North America 2005
  7. Looking good! Any particular reason you decided to mount it up so high, Steve?
  8. Interesting tidbit from the Web. Peachtree are now developing a variant of the Nova that will be just a DAC/Pre without the integrated amp. It will use the ESS9016 and have upgrades to the power supply, output stage and board components. Target price is $1199. Could be a nice product for folks of the desktop audio persuasion!
  9. Happy Birthday. May your positions ever appreciate and your corks never deteriorate!

  12. They were over at the middle table on the left as you entered the room. The 228s and 238s look rather similar, but I'm pretty sure it was the 238s I listened to.
  13. I listened to them at CanJam on Tyll's enthusiastic recommendation and thought they sounded very good. They're also very light and comfortable.
  14. Suitable for framing?

  19. I'm not a gun guy, so can I naively ask what the point of a silencer/suppressor is in a real-world application?

Every component should come with such an option!
  21. Crowded House -- Together Alone You know how some albums are so tied to a particular period of your life and so freighted with emotional resonances that you can hardly bear to hear them even though you love them? Hit me.
  22. Truth. I cannot for the life of me think who wants a $24,000 player that supports WAV, AIFF, FLAC and OGG -- but only if they're burned to disc.

Are you implying that's how you finally managed it? Respect.
