  2. Plus, it would probably make more sense to promote the core Head-Fi brand to a completely new audience rather than the ancillary CanJam one. "Head-Fi at RMAF". Done.
  3. I'd agree with that.
  4. Yeah. Wanna know how wet it is in New England? Look at this poor little bugger I just found trying to shelter under an eave outside my office door.
  5. Quotation marks typically enclose direct quotes from a third party, in this case you. I believe this convention is occasionally observed even outside of H-C.
  6. Cursed the bloody weather! It rained 22 days out of 30 in June this year and is, of course, absolutely pissing down outside as I write this. Apparently, the blame lies with an unusually-persistent high pressure system camping in the region of Nova Scotia, which is pushing the Jet Stream far south of it's usual summer course. Can it be a coincidence that this anomaly developed right after a certain Australian DIYer moved to Halifax? I think not.
  7. SACD > CD. Who'da trunk it?
  8. Christ I hope there are no euphemisms involved here.
  9. Also good. Others involved agree.
  10. Soft Cell -- The Art Of Falling Apart The synth medley of Hendrix hits is worth the price of admission on its own.
  11. I think I liked him better as a jolly fat man, though I'm sure he's improved his hit rate on Grinder now.
  12. The 607 is the sweet spot in the Onkyo line, in my opinion. Gets you the much better MultEQ room correction. The new Denons look like a lot of receiver for the money, too. In the budget category, you'd have to work hard to beat the feature set of the AVR590. 13. Today was a good day.
  14. If you do go that particular route, PM me. I can probably get you a deal.
  15. And the great thing is, there can always be more categories.
  16. Actually, I just got the manual from Retrevo and he's right. WTF? Steve, if you can take that back, I would. You could do a lot better getting a higher-end, last-gen receiver for not much more money. That would let you pass everything over HDMI and get the full benefit from the lossless audio tracks on Blu-ray discs -- which that Yammy won't decode either.
  17. I think you're missing something. Don't know anything about that particular model, but if it has HDMI inputs than they will pass both the audio and video signals. There is usually an option in the setup menu that selects between using the TV's own speakers or speakers connected to the receiver itself. I suspect you have it set to the former right now.
  18. Good enough for me. I'd also posit that, though we're talking mainly about absolute performance, it's also a relative bargain compared to the cost of the company it's keeping.
  19. Fullscreen Gigapan Viewer: Another Ant!
  20. It pains my fanboy soul to say it, but Safari 4 has been weirdly flaky for me recently and I've been using FF more and more often.
  21. I thought of this thread when I read this. Also, he's going to be real tough to pick out of the lineup, yeah?
  22. Dead Can Dance -- Selections From North America 2005
  23. Looking good! Any particular reason you decided to mount it up so high, Steve?
  24. Interesting tidbit from the Web. Peachtree are now developing a variant of the Nova that will be just a DAC/Pre without the integrated amp. It will use the ESS9016 and have upgrades to the power supply, output stage and board components. Target price is $1199. Could be a nice product for folks of the desktop audio persuasion!
